Personally I'm glad Ontario wasn't so misguided as to try to define what is or isn't "essential" for big box stores like Walmart to sell. If someone is stuck at home literally for weeks and unable to go out, who's to say a new TV or game console isn't essential (if only for one's sanity) if theirs breaks down?

Target made some serious mistakes when they came into Canada. They focused on opening like 150+ stores within a 2 year timeframe and had no online infrastructure whatsoever; their website literally only contained legal blurbs and a store locator... lacking even the ability to see what they sold in stores, or if it was in stock and, if so, where. They should have started with 1/3 the number of stores with a full online experience including online shopping and inventory checking

See; quebec is under a new lockdown, have been since the 26th. It's supposed to end the 8th of february, but probably won't. Stores are only supposed to sell necessities (in deference to the stores which are closed.), but the quebec government made no effort define what counts as a "necessity", only punished them for getting it wrong. So I can buy all the candy I want, but not underwear, boots, winterwear, small appliances. Hell, my brother had to explain why he wanted a FUSE when he needed to fix his stove shortly before new years.

Targets don't exist in canada anymore. They lasted like 3 years before abandoning the market. But even if they WERE still here: they would be under the same poorly defined restrictions as walmart.

Finally got around to opening Studio Series movie Bee.  He's so tiny!  And way more adorable than I thought he would be.

 

I can't get him to peg together in vehicle mode very well, though.  That's kind of a bummer.  Is there a trick that I'm missing?

 

Also, are the little smaller windows supposed to fold up into his backpack? They've got hinges, so I assumed they folded up but the instructions leave them folded down.

The hinges on the lower wings seem to just be there for "some parts designed to detach if excessive force is applied". All of the designs and art of the pre-final Bee design seem to have had four wings, like Bee has had all along*.

 

If you figure out how to get him into vehicle mode reliably without descending into an all-consuming blood-rage, let me know.

Oh.  It really does seem like they should fold up.  I mean, they do, so his backpack is a little more compact.  I do kind of like them out.  Makes him look a bit like a Mospeada / Cyclone when it's transformed.

Yeah.  That's one of the things that really bugs me about movie stuff.  Just peg together, darnit.  It's a shame, because the VW Bug is a really good design.

I don't find that Studio Series stuff on the whole is like that at all. VW Bee is an unfortunate throwback to the ROTF era of Transformer toy design.

 

(So is Blackout, although less infuriating to transform.)

It's definitely not the same style of art, though. I mean, that doesn't preclude a non-movie car-only design having been done up for merchandising and then having different pieces of art done for it, obviously. It's possible it's just an early design and there was a point where he wasn't even going to have a helicopter mode.

and I'm still really hoping Sideswipe can stand properly. I know his feet design doesn't offer a lot of room to work with but some of his previous releases found a way to be semi-stable...

Both Sideswipe and his car mode have always been gorgeous designs, although I prefer the hardtop. (I always prefer the hardtop.)

As bizarre a mold choice as it is, I do rather like Crankcase's color scheme. A whole lot snazzier than Crowbar's mix of Berserker and DotM Crankcase.

 

 

Also been trying to figure out what this is:

Like, I'm guessing just a part of the robot that doesn't get hidden all the way, but it's real conspicuous and doesn't seem to match up with anything.
