I am not quite sure what to make of this yet...

I don't like horror movies and am kinda apathetic towards the X-Men film franchise now, so I think this is a pass.
I'll give them credit for not making a traditional superhero movie though, we could use a little more of that thinking. Marvel Studios and James Mangold are pretty much the only ones (in the Marvel/DC space) who seem to understand you can use superheroes to tell a variety of stories.

Glad that they're switching things up. They can always switch to something more traditional when they inevitably team up with Cable & Deadpool.
Switching WHAT up?
every X-Men movie they've made aside from Deadpool & First Class (the latter they pretend doesnt exist) has been dark, dreary and depressing. This looks just like that to me.

I don't think I'm into this one at all. Other than very few context clues I would just think this was a generic horror/thriller film. Most people aren't going to clue in to this being an X -film unless they are familiar with the New Mutants already or the Marvel Logo clues them in. As is being a rather generic horror tropey movie it may be the first X film I skip the theater for.

it's only the first trailer ... we've got 6 months of more trailers for them to expand on the reach of the marketing.
for all we know this could just be the "oh hey our trailer drops in october can we cut this to be scary?" trailer
while the one we get in february might be cut to show the budding romance between cannonball and oh let's say wolfsbane?

Im so excited for this.
No way we woild ever get a New Mutants thats entirely faithful to the comics, unless you waited a while and did it as a reboot successor of the X-Men.
Disappointed theres still no Black Roberto. I hooe they do Warlock justice.
But yeah. Im stoked. It doesnt look like just another halfway decent X-Men movie.
Roberto is Braziliaan like his actor. I know he was fairly dark skinned in the comic, but I don’t know if he was meant to be black (as Brazilians tend to be dark skinned).
Cecilia Reyes is also played by a Brazilian actress, and she’s supposed to be Puerto Rican. Though I always thought she was African American based on her comic depiction.
