@  wonko the sane? : (07 April 2020 - 07:32 AM)

Not while I'm outside working with the chainsaw. If it's working fine: then I don't need it. If it's NOT working; I use hand tools cause there is a job that brought me out there. No time to read.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (07 April 2020 - 03:07 AM)

You can Google manuals these days.

@  wonko the sane? : (06 April 2020 - 06:06 PM)

I can't. One: we don't know where dad hide the damn manual. Not that he read it either. And 2.) I'm congenitally incapable of reading it, being as I'm male.

@  TheMightyMol... : (06 April 2020 - 01:52 PM)

Lesson learned: RTFM.

@  wonko the sane? : (06 April 2020 - 11:45 AM)

It's time for todays lesson! Did you know there's a wrong way to install a chainsaw blade? I didn't. I thought the damn thing was just blunted, but nope. Backwards.

@  CORVUS : (05 April 2020 - 06:41 PM)

CONTAGION is on my current watchlist. I'm kicking it off with OUTBREAK, and I have a whole lineup of pandemic-based films. I treat this stuff as a fear-innoculant.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (05 April 2020 - 03:52 PM)

My point is that of late, Taiwan's government executed lockdown procedures to great success. Vietnam has done similarly.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (05 April 2020 - 03:34 PM)

Didn't SARS just suddenly stop before it got very far?

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (05 April 2020 - 03:24 PM)

*raises eyebrows due to familial knowledge of SARS*

@  Steevy Maximus : (05 April 2020 - 01:43 PM)

It was uncomfortably real in 2011, it's downright scary in relation to the current pandemic.

@  Steevy Maximus : (05 April 2020 - 01:42 PM)

It is, almost to an uncomfortable point. The virus portrayed in that film was FAR more aggressive and fatal than Coronavirus, but the sourcing and spread and impact hit REALLY close to home compared to what we're dealing with now

@  Maximus Ambus : (05 April 2020 - 04:50 AM)

Actually on the subject, I've hard a lot of people refer to a 2011 film called Contagion that they think is relevant.

@  Maximus Ambus : (05 April 2020 - 01:11 AM)

Ah well, I'll stick to the classic British sitcoms: One Foot in the Grave, Til Death Do Us Part and They Think It's All Over.

@  TM2-Megatron : (05 April 2020 - 12:53 AM)

There's always the original, cheesy as it is

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (05 April 2020 - 12:10 AM)

Dunno... Tonight one of the major networks showed a movie with plagues.. including that listening to their leader causes the first born to die. ;P So nah.. I think the Stand could work. :D

@  TM2-Megatron : (04 April 2020 - 09:18 PM)

That's probably the last thing anyone needs to see, at the moment. Maybe when we get to the end of June/beginning of July and we can venture back out, it might be possible to find some enjoyment in The Stand.

@  Maximus Ambus : (04 April 2020 - 02:08 PM)

I suppose the CBS adaptation of Stephen Kings The Stand will be delayed.

@  Rycochet : (04 April 2020 - 11:26 AM)

We'll always be together. Together in electric dreams.

@  Rycochet : (04 April 2020 - 11:25 AM)

Please remember that in these times of social distancing, we'll always be together however far it seems.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 12:41 PM)

It arrived! Yay!

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 11:25 AM)

Given how the virus lasts about 3-4 days on metals and plastics, it's about the only way to go about getting stuff right now. I ordered a monitor mount for my desk and the delivery has been pushed back twice already.

@  Maximus Ambus : (03 April 2020 - 11:04 AM)

He ordered it online, says it was to keep those delivery boys in business. I did the same a week ago with some Transformers Studio Series figures off Kapow. Don't know if it's wise or not considering.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 09:12 AM)

You'd be the first. Everyone else has either been frustrated cause the one they wanted was sold out (like during boxing week.) or rushing to replace something broken.

@  RYNO : (03 April 2020 - 08:53 AM)

I actually walked into a store the other day and just randomly decided to buy at 32inch TV. It was just a Vizio, and grabbed a Mounting Bracket for it. No duress. Just a spur of the moment wanted a TV for my master bedroom.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 07:31 AM)

Conversely: I've never met a person who wasn't buying a TV under duress... so... yeah.

@  wonko the sane? : (03 April 2020 - 07:20 AM)

I think I've met maybe two people other than myself who count cables before buying a TV.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (03 April 2020 - 05:33 AM)

Seriously.. HDMI splitters and switches are so bloody finicky, but most tvs don't have enough inputs.

@  Maximus Ambus : (03 April 2020 - 05:09 AM)

Just spent a hour trying to get my brothers new Samsung TV to read his Playstation and Blu Ray player only to find he was using a HDMI splitter.

@  Steevy Maximus : (02 April 2020 - 11:07 AM)

I could never master oral bullshittery. But in my day I was quite adept with the written word.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (01 April 2020 - 11:32 PM)

You have mastered the art of Bulljive. You must use this power only for good, or entertainment.

@  Sabrblade : (01 April 2020 - 08:58 PM)

This morning, for one of my online classes, I had to give a positive oral presentation about a play that I hated having to watch. I went into it completely unprepared and just winged it. My professor LOVED my presentation and thought it was excellent. She believed every word I said and honestly thought that I enjoyed that miserable play. Best April Fools ever!

We must infiltrate Hasbro and have this person promoted.

After that BW comment, I'd advocate for this person consuming John Warden to gain his power.

...some of them end up being kinda weird and obscure, like a lot of the little Titan Master assortment guys, theyre like Beast Wars characters or characters produced in their markets.

*internal screaming*

In a world where we had Lione, Shuffler, and a Titan Master based on Jack at US retail, apparently the Beast Wars guys were too obscure to make the cut.

I think we pretty much already knew that anything beyond G1 is considered "obscure" by John Warden, at least.

He knows we divide the wiki into "G1" and "Armada + other junk"

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I thought he meant "Battle Beasts" but accidentally said "Beast Wars".

If that's what he meant it'd be pretty forgivable, within the context of the Transformers franchise the Beastformers are really obscure.

I'm not sure if I'm feeling charitable enough to assume that's what he meant though.

I have to say, Galvatron and Hot Rod's pretools being Also Galvatron and Other Hot Rod strikes me as really really dull.

To be fair, it sounds like that's why they were never released.

Where he said "animated", I really thought for a while he meant Animated as opposed to "anime colors", and I could definitely have got behind a silver Galvatron with an Animated Megatron head that turned into a space gunship. (As opposed to, apparently, we got the head that was originally intended for the silver, toy-based deco, and the other one was just even more cartoon or something.)

Of course there's a figure of Rodimus as some kind of animal girl. Why would I be surprised by this?

Ah well.

I'm not sure how the headsculpt could be an anime-colored sculpt - while I doubt he literally meant "based on Animated Megatron", I definitely took that to mean "a more stylized Galvatron head".

(Also he was already in anime colors. It's the other colors we didn't get.)

Yeah, sorry, was editing my post to clarify - I realize the toy we got wasn't silver. = ] I interpreted him as saying in a very roundabout way that the head we got was originally intended for the silver deco, but I could be wrong. The [toy] inserted in the quote is me, obviously, so does not support my reading. XD

If it was based on the hannibal facemask Megatron from his space jet/tank form that never happened that'd be pretty neat.

But I'd wager he just means the alternate IDW helmet we saw in the render and stolen prototypes and he's not remembering the source material correctly.

Especially considering test shots of the one with the toy/Studio Ox/IDW style mask popped up first, so it'd be an easy mistake, I think.

There's an IDW Rodimus face, and we can't have it.

There was a bin of IDW Rodimus faces in the factory, and they've been long melted down to make more. Or however they deal with plastic waste.

...this team is a lot less cool than i figured

Considering the ball of spikes that is IDW Rodimus and his head, I think we were spared having to make that conform to a Titanmaster cube.

But at least *he's* been looking beyond 1986. So many have never even been able to do *that*...

They said they ask TakTom about pretools, right? XD I mean TakTom has, for their part, made the effort of a redeco!

I imagine it only exists as a tooling, I.e. a steel mold that was never actually used. To be fair.

Edit: Or do they just make one mold with both heads and swap colors on it?

I can't speak universally, but the CW First Aid mold had the Ratchet head on the same sprue as other stuff. That's how BotCon 2016 Custom Class Ratchet even exists....

True.  I think the first one was because they wanted a Windcharger, the second was because they wanted to make an IDW Tailgate and he's the logical retool.  The third is a bit of a mystery other than getting one with more cartoon detailing.

They at least share the thighs and crotch. Probably more, I'll check closer after work.

winky.gif winky.gif winky.gif

It's just so sad, how part of the storyline will center around Rodimus's struggle with his Unicronic illness. I hope it's treatable. In ReGeneration 1, I think he died of it.

Not in ReGeneration One, no.

So, we put up D Buster Prime's NYCC interview with John Warden about PotP, which contains an extensive response to the sticker question. = ] Not a lot of new here on PotP (we'd reported on some straight answers to questions about upcoming things before, and not all of that even got audio) but I like how genuinely behind-the-curtain this one felt.

No IDW-original characters planned for PotP, which tracks with the big leak.

I think they could have gotten a Straxus out of Galvatron:

JW: Oh yeah, totally, right? They’re always coming out to me, “When do I get Rung, I want Rung!” And I’m like, “I gave you Nautica,” and they’re like, “No, I need more! Where’s my Tarn?”

Well I mean.... Out of those Nautica's the newest so of course fans would want the other two and I'm sure out of those three examples she was probably the easiest to make, and don't misunderstand me I love that they made her. But yeah of course fans would want more.

And for Galvatron I know I wanted grey toy colors, and I saw some great digibashes of Straxus and he just got a toy (looks up) good lord, 7 years ago (its been that long already!?).
