No one asked for this reboot they asked for a Hellboy 3 with Perlmen (myself included)
I'm fairly opened minded but not this time

While 1&2 were visually stunning, and some parts of the characters were extremely well done. I found the shoe horned "romance" was quite odd (seeing all the media for Hellboy, places the Agents at best akin to Bond with a girl/guy of the adventure). Abe's crush (in 2) was fine, the stuff with Liz felt like a bad fan fiction.
The cartoons they made, Blood and Iron, and Sword of Storms... were very much on point with the comics. Also the character of Liz was WAY more appealing in the toons.
Hopefully they continue on that strain. But really, I'd have preferred a Troll Hunter's-esque cartoon series in the veins of the above. Add in Johann and Roger.... Personally I'd love to see a BPRD movie, focused on Abe's past and horrible fate.
I'm rather optimistic.

Perlman IS Hellboy. The late, great John Hurt IS Professor Broom. And we haven't got the delt Toro Hellboy 3!
Unless this R version is done with the same care as Logan, it could just end up as a blodfy, swear filled mess of tasteless humour because 'mature'.
I hope they take the right lessons from Deadpool and Logan, though i'm not inspired.

I wouldn't worry over much about it being akin to Deadpool.
Hellboy isn't a comedian. While he's snarky (and can be amusing), as is Abe and Liz... the Hellboy/BPRD series is not a humour filled one. It's tragic and violent for all involved. Extremely so. One can only hope they chose the R-rating to do it justice.

Yeah, I also agree with 2017 for once. I'd much rather have a third del Toro Hellboy. It just doesn't feel right without Ron as Hellboy.
4th? 5th'd? Whatever it is, Pearman makes Bellboy, and as I recall, actively wants to reprise the role. While Del Toro would be ideal, I think Neil could possibly do it justice. Dog Soldiers (his best film) and Doomsday both give me hope for this, but it will be a real hard sell without Pearlman.

Perlman is the voice I hear when I read Hellboy comics. He is Hellboy! The new guy will only ever come across as knock-off not-Ron Perlman.
Nonsense; mischief; often, a treacherous or deceitful trick.

Sorry to be contrarian, but count me amongst those that never really got in sync with Del Toro's take on "Hellboy". Del Toro's technicolor imagination never fit with the horror/noir tone that the original Hellboy books tiptoed through. I really feel that "Hellboy" would be much better served with a sub-$100M budget and a studio like Blumhouse at the helm and hold high hopes for this reboot.

I want to see Hellboy 3, not a reboot, if the reboot fails, there's always plan A, the sequel people have been waiting for and if that falls through, they might as well go and make a TV series based on the charater, comic book TV series can do well if done right.
