Three X-Men movies in one year? My money is on at least one of them being a disappointment.

I hope the disappointment isn't Deadpool 2.

But in the current, digitized world, trivial information is accumulating every second, preserved in all its triteness. Never fading, always accessible. Rumors about petty issues, misinterpretations, slander... All this junk data preserved in an unfiltered state, growing at an alarming rate. It will only slow down social progress, reduce the rate of evolution. You seem to think that our plan is one of censorship. What we propose to do is not to control content, but to create context.

Because 1) They reset the timeline so none of that ever happened. And 2) they did a horrible job of it the first time.

Hey, all my favorite characters were in X-Men Apocalypse. But we still got...X-Men Apocalypse.

Didn't we already have a version of Dark Phoenix with X3? How can they redo it already?
Yeah but X3 is an affront to God and nature that, much like the Wolverine Origins film, is rapidly being buried as never having actually happened.
That said, I have zero hopes for a Dark Phoenix film because Fox hasn't spent any time developing the cosmic side of the X-verse, and really a dedicated tale about the Dark Phoenix would require the same amount of set up that the MCU's Phase One required. Much like how Warner Brothers somehow thinks they can jump straight into the Justice League with only a movie's worth of groundwork laid, Fox doesn't seem to grasp that the Dark Phoenix requires more then just a 11th hour reveal at the end of a film as set up. But then, they did the same thing to Apocalypse.
Seriously, after the success of Disney and the MCU, you'd think the competitors would start figuring out why MCU movies are making wads of cash.

I doubt Deadpool will be a disappointment. The people working on it care too much (as evidenced by what they could do with the budget of the first movie). This isn't just another paycheck for them. It's a love project. Those tend to do well.
I hope New Mutants does do well. I absolutely adore Wolfsbane and Magik. Kinda like how Blink really thrilled me to no end in Days of Future Past, I'd really like to see the movie introductions of Wolfsbane and Magik to be received well.

Bring back Matthew Vaughn, please???
he's the only director who's managed to make a good X-Men film. specifically meaning "a good film about a team of heroes," not "a good film starring one super-marketable hero."

Fox also should've thought to poach Whedon before WB did. How many other big name directors have an X-Men run on their resume?

We've had three different Spider-Men in three different movie continuities in the same span of time.
I'll allow it.

I love the concepts of any one of those. But having not introduced the Shi'ar or even the possibility of life outside of Earth in the X-Men movie universe, I just don't see how they could do Dark Phoenix any kind of justice.I doubt Deadpool will be a disappointment. Oh you liked Blink? Don't worry its fox so she will be recast, have no costume, and her powers will be wildly different in scope and visual presentation.

Well one of those is already true, as she is going to be part of Fox's TV series "Gifted". She'll be played by Jamie Chung. Who I think is a good choice considering Fan Bing Bing played her the first time around (Jamie being American would be better suited for a more meaty role in an English speaking production than Fan Bing Bing, since English isn't her first language).
I just hope the look and abilities are the same or similar. Granted the effects would be as magnificent as DoFP's were, but here's hoping.

Simon Kinberg states that his version of Dark Phoenix will be "grounded, human, emotional & not too intergalactic."

which means they've missed the hugging POINT of an X-Men story YET AGAIN.

what did you expect? these films have always only been "x-men" in name only
X-Men: Dark Phoenix will bring back the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse, including (the usual suspects)...Kinberg previously confirmed that the next X-Men movie would jump ahead ten years from Apocalypse, offering a 1990s setting for the sequel.
even for comic book time, this is just get ridiculous now. (i think) 30 years is supposed to have passed in these films yet they all look like they did in he first one!
also, i am sick to death of dark phoenix. its been done like 5 different times in every media (and this is the second time in film!). i dont doubt its a classic, but there are MANY x-men stories out there to adapt from (not that they can get those right either though). why keep coming back to this one?
that said, ill still end up seeing it and buying it on bluray cause ive got all the other x-men movies. no point in stopping now. and who knows? maybe ill actually enjoy it (but i doubt it)
