@  Tm_Silverclaw : (20 June 2018 - 07:16 PM)

I mean the foam was dangerous, but in space they probably put out the fires, then wore the equivalent of a hazmat suit to clean up.

@  TheMightyMol... : (20 June 2018 - 04:38 PM)

Only on special occassions.

@  unluckiness : (20 June 2018 - 06:32 AM)

fire retardant foam is so powerful it can extinguish even sparks

@  Pennpenn : (20 June 2018 - 05:23 AM)

I mean, this is a species that can be disabled (possibly fatally after a while?) by flame retardant foam, so yeah.

@  TheMightyMol... : (20 June 2018 - 01:28 AM)

Transformers are exactly as resilient as the plot needs them to be, so who knows, it could be lethal today.

@  RichardT1977 : (19 June 2018 - 08:50 PM)

Which is why Marvel Megatron was interested in Dr. Biggles-Jones' railgun design and had it grafted onto his G2 tank mode.

@  wonko the sane? : (19 June 2018 - 08:43 PM)

Doesn't really matter what transformers are made of. If you send a 10 pound ball of metal flying at a good enough velocity, you will do damage.

@  Soft Snow : (19 June 2018 - 05:53 PM)

A regular cannon that shoots cannon balls and does nothing to other transformers because they are robots but would put a mean whole in the side of your wooden boat...

@  wonko the sane? : (19 June 2018 - 01:55 PM)

I'm pretty sure that megatrons cannon is his best friend, so that friendship is magic stuff won't work.

@  MEDdMI : (19 June 2018 - 01:16 PM)

And then the magic ponies force everyone to be friends FOREVERRRRRRR

@  wonko the sane? : (19 June 2018 - 12:06 PM)

Or... megatron just goes to war against skynet cause he can't stand the competition.

@  Otaku : (19 June 2018 - 10:53 AM)

As for Megatron vs Skynet... Shockwave decides to partner with Skynet and oust Megatron after first contact is made. We get Terminator/Vehicon hybrids. At first the humans are expedient pawns (why waste loyal Decepticons), then enough humans augmented with Cybertronian tech impress Megs that, after victory, humanity is absorbed into the Decepticon empire. Even if only as second or third class citizens, it still beats being seen as vermin by Skynet.

@  Otaku : (19 June 2018 - 10:51 AM)

Like I said, it is a nitpick; it makes sense, I'd just like to see a "regular" Earth setting where the 'cons take a stealthier approach to things - maybe because the Autobots are a better check against them and so they play the heroes. I mean, they could use various means to take being a sort of M.A.S.K. meets Power Rangers style team. ;)

@  Otaku : (19 June 2018 - 10:45 AM)

@Nevermore Works well enough for me. If I had to nitpick, I think there are actually two different stories being forced together. A "Thunderbolts" style story with the Decepticons doesn't need Skynet... and Megatron liberating the humans from Skynet doesn't need the subterfuge, at least for long.

@  unluckiness : (19 June 2018 - 08:33 AM)

I can dig it

@  unluckiness : (19 June 2018 - 08:21 AM)

So Thunderbolts with giant robots?

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:22 PM)

Thundercracker, in particular.

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:21 PM)

Some of the Decepticons start to really enjoy being the good guys. Well, they enjoy the act, at least. They find fulfillment in their assumed personas.

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:20 PM)

Except SHockwave eventually betrays his teammates and teams up with Skynet.

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:20 PM)

Starscream becomes the young, eager Nightscream, and so on.

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:19 PM)

Megatron becomes the noble Megabolt, taking cues from Beast Wars Silverbolt.

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:19 PM)

A Thunderbolts-esque masquerade.

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:19 PM)

In order to do so, the Decepticons pretend to be the good guys and take on different personas.

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:18 PM)

So Megatron decides that hey, the Autobots are stillback on Cybertron, so why not team up with the humans, defeat Skynet, then double-cross the humans?

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:17 PM)

Unfortunately, the Skynet/humans war is already going on, and Skynet is evolving rapidly.

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:17 PM)

The Decepticons discover Earth and want to plunder its resources.

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:17 PM)

It would have a really crazy twist:

@  Nevermore : (18 June 2018 - 06:17 PM)

I've had this crazy idea for a Transformers/Terminator crossover for years.

@  TM2-Megatron : (18 June 2018 - 05:20 PM)

Specifically I'd like to see Skynet's army rise up against him (he did refer to them as an "army of slaves" in Genisys), or even perhaps a peace-minded iteration of Skynet that's existed in a humanoid form long enough to gain some compassion for the human point of view

@  TM2-Megatron : (18 June 2018 - 05:19 PM)

A peaceful resolution would be satisfying for me (it's the only resolution possible in The Matrix series, too), but I think the majority of Terminator fans would walk out think WTF?

@  TM2-Megatron : (18 June 2018 - 05:15 PM)

I liked Clarke as Sarah as well, although I read a lot of complaints online that she looked too young, but I thought she was pretty badass.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (18 June 2018 - 05:11 PM)

I think across these movies, there's a very compelling story about a progressive temporal arms race driven by mutual fear in which Judgement Day keeps getting pushed back, which only gives both sides more time for technological development, and the only true resolution to it is cooperation. But cooperation will never come about because each side fears being wiped out by the other.

@  Paladin : (18 June 2018 - 05:05 PM)

Genisys basically made Sara Connors' entire motivation in stopping judgement day stem from not wanting to sleep with Jai Courtney. and really, can you blame her?

@  PlutoniumBoss : (18 June 2018 - 03:52 PM)

I'll give Genisys another thing, Emilia Clarke made a damn good Linda Hamilton. (As for Jai Courtney looking nothing like Michael Biehn, that just supports my theory that it's not always the same "Kyle Reese" sent back which would explain why John Connor looks different in almost every movie.)

@  Rycochet : (18 June 2018 - 02:54 PM)

I'm not, I'm lost in music.

@  TheMightyMol... : (18 June 2018 - 12:59 PM)

What, again?

@  2018 : (18 June 2018 - 06:33 AM)

It's a time warp. We're trapped in the past.

A few TFs I bought have been the direct result of messing with one in person.

A picture can only go so far heck even seeing the toy in package is not enough.

It happen just today for me with TR Fort Max someone returned one today that was opened and I got to mess around with it and now its on my to get list near the top

But its happened in the past as well with some movie toys an even a few AEC things like

Energon Wing Saber even though I did not have Fattmus

But I can go even farther back with TM Tarantulus seems silly now but seeing him in package back then I was not sure about him

dotm thunderhead is another one. not to say i dont like him, but i had originally bought 4. after i got one open and messed with it, i took the other 3 back. he just wasnt as cool as i thought he was going to be. i had planned on making a tiny squad of them

Masterpiece Ironhide and Masterpiece Tracks. Markedly opposite reactions to seeing photos and actually handling the toys.

MP-28 (or was it 29?) Rodimus. Was annoyed at them doing it in the first place, hated the boxy chest, and now once in hand I want a whole fleet of them. Love, love love the mold. Possibly my favorite Rod ever.

Universe Dropshot. I thought it was an ugly deco of a rather dull looking toy but getting one quickly changed it to one of my favourites. the thing is surprisingly dynamic for such a bulky bot and his awful colours rapidly grew on me.

Recently TR Wolfwire. I was so gonna pas on him but decided to pick one up and he's worth it. Next was probably the Dark of the Moon Ultimate Optimus Prime. Not the combined form but the Truck bot by itself. I bought it just for the combined form to just display and I find myself fiddling with just the part quite often as I really enjoyed the trucks transformation.

Over at TFcon, there's usually an entire corner taken up by, I think, Captured Prey. They take the time to set up these elaborate display cases, and load them up with unpackaged, posed samples of the Masterpiece/3P/General High-End stuff they're selling. The whole set-up looked like what you'd see Hasbro do during an official unveiling.

Last year, they sold me on both Masterpiece Hot Rod and Ratchet, both of whom I'd been on the fence about, thanks to getting a chance to see them up-close and in person. Of course, I still shopped around the 'con for the best price on them, but still.

It works both ways, though, since that display made me pass on Diabattles V2, after finally seeing how tiny he really was for the price they wanted.

There's also been figures I wasn't interested in where I changed my mind upon seeing them packaged at retail. The first example I can think of is WFC Starscream, though I'm sure there are others.

Animated Starscream. He went from thinking he could turn me around on the art style to killing my enthusiasm for the line.

Yup. I feel at $90 it wasn't a good investment. I bought him for myself on Black Friday but saved him as a "gift from the family" on Christmas. I tried to hide it, but when I opened him I was disappointed. The more I mess with him, I'm disappointed. It just feels cheaply made. I stare at him often, and he's probably the first modern era TF since Supreetor that I was ready to sell as soon as I got him.

My son would be disappointed, as he was really excited for me to get him. But every time I touch him I find something else I don't like.

Titans Return Powermaster Optimus Prime.

I had basically a 7 year break from Transformers, but I did buy one, maybe two, figures on a whim, just the one time I stumbled upon something at Marshall's.  It just reaffirmed me that the toys were no longer for me.  Too complex, too fiddly, whatever, blah blah.  Friend at the comic book shop knew I was a former fan that vastly preferred the headmaster/powermaster era and that G1 Powermaster Prime was in my top 3 figures.  From reveal of of Titans Return until I actually bought Prime, he kept going out of the way to tell me how amazing the line was.

Well, I was on Amazon and I saw PM OP on decent discount in my recommendations.  For the same amount as a gift card I had, even.

I ordered him expecting the same contradictory over-simplified and stupidly complex at the same time modern figures I remembered leaving behind, (not that I'd honestly say that's true still, but thats how I felt when I quit.) but figured it would at least look good on a shelf.  Fell in love with it.  I then discovered that all of my favorite G1 figures were finally get new figures AND they were headmasters!  And they released modern G2 combiners!  That were just spotted in Marshall's for cheap this week!  And I found them!

I fell back into the Transformers hole because of that one purchase, but I enjoy these far more than I ever enjoyed pretty much any other toy line I've ever collected.  My wife is pretty cool with it too.  She's basically a closet transformer fan with her own tiny collection of figures.

You should have started with Prowl. To this day, Animated Prowl is still the best motorcycle TF.

RiD Optimus. In pictures he looked like the solid, G1 style bot with BW articulation I'd always wanted, but in hand, wow, what an absolute disaster he is. Looks great stood there with his arms by his side in super mode but don't pick him up or try and pose him as something will pop, drop or flop off because he doesn't seem to have been designed as a toy, more a neat looking statue and suffers from the same 'ball 'em up and add vehicle/beast parts' design that was Takara's thing at the time.

RiD Magnus is also pretty bad, but my expectations were much lower as he was never going to be great given how he was clearly designed to be a change of clothes for Optimus.
