I am both excited... and worried about this.
Of course I considered the Van Helsing movie from several years ago with Wolverine's actor as a castlevania movie.

Cool! A Castlevania series sounds awesome...
producer Adi Shankar, who was behind that gritty Power Rangers short back in 2015
An article up on The Globe and Mail reports that Warren Ellis has done the writing for the show’s first season.
FUUUUU.......

I read Warren Ellis' original Castlevania canned film script years and years ago. And I love Warren Ellis. But he never brings his A game to licensed stuff and this was pretty damn bad. So I expect nothing good from this.

Wasn't Ellis supposed to write an animated Castlevania III adaptation like a decade ago?
I really hope Frederator can rein in the worst aspects of Ellis and Shankar to give us something of actual substance...
Well, fudge.

You're far too young to be this bitter and angry at the world....
I'm reading that with Roy's voice. Heck, I read everything you post in a laconic Irish accent.

That's, uh, from "about a year ago". I know the article is from today, but that sure isn't.
A year ago but involving the same people.

Teaser's up. Can't tell much of anything about the story, but I love how the teaser starts out. Series is coming July 7th.

Looks kinda awesome. Wondering if we're sticking with the Belmonts or going with the entire series.
Ironbite-come on Soma.
Belmonts, From what I'd read is that this takes place at a point where the Belmonts are disgraced and the main character is trying to restore their good name.

Meh, it looks grim and glum and serious. Not what I get from the games and thus not for me.
What do you expect, being helmed by Adi "I wanna see the Power Rangers murder people" Shankar?
Then again, Castlevania has largely always had that grim sense of characterization at least. Lots of people standing around, huffing about prophecy and crap in full seriousness. And the opening few rooms in the castle usually play the dark horror aspect pretty straight. It's usually when the games start ramping up the bosses, and you get deeper into the castle that the aesthetic at least starts getting more outlandish.

I have to say if there's one series that's can be pretty grim and serious, its Castlevania. Its all got this kinda gothic horror vibe to it at its core. It could still go to far with it, or forget there are more lighter fantastical elements, but at the moment... It being dark and serious? Doesn't bother me yet.

Not sure what I think yet. Not a fan of the animation style, and
...kinda want to see Simon Belmont from Captain N as the lead...
