That was awesome! Though I'm worried about that washer. That can't be a good sign. But that was damn impressive.

I don't particularly care for the original song at all, but I like this cover.
(Also, thank you for posting the Joan Jett cover of "Dirty Deeds" a little while back, Destron; I've since come to find that I like it better than the AC/DC version.)

There was a thread in General Discussion a month or show showing off the new Microsoft Surface tablet, with the demo video featuring this fantastic cover of Pure Imagination:
Changes a somewhat wistful little ditty into something dramatic and awe-inspiring.

Yeeeeah, I'm going to have to go with the original on this one.

A couple days ago I started playing Final Fantasy XV. I only played to the first convenient save point since I want to finish other games before really digging into a new one.
But that's beside the point. During the opening title screen where they're pushing a car, there's this totally fabulous cover of Stand By Me. It got me obsessing over this new cover version and the original version. I've listened to both the past couple days and of course that led me to watching the movie tonight.
So now I have this idea in my head of "what versions of songs do people prefer, the original or the cover?"
I don't know how many videos can be imbedded in a single post...so I'm just going to post vids of this song to start off. As the discussion takes off (if the discussion takes off) feel free to bring up other songs.
A few ideas include: American Woman (Guess Who vs. Lenny Kravitz), I Love Rock and Roll (The Arrows vs. Joan Jett).
What ever you want to come up with. But first I have to start it off with this. Which is better?
The original (Ben E. King)
The Cover (Florence + The Machine)
I can't choose to be honest. Hug pride! Either one of these will bring me to tears.

So once upon a time I bought the Star Trek III soundtrack and found an interesting surprise.
For reference, here's the standard Main Theme:
And here's what was at the end of the soundtrack:
Yes, that is a very 80's rock-ish remix of the theme which somehow manages to be awesome in it's own right, maybe moreso than the actual theme.
I've never heard of Group 87, who composed it, but they apparently have a bit of a discography online!

Anyway, there's a point to this. In a departure from the norm, I'll start with the cover first:
Ashley Johnson (voice actress for Ellie in The Last of Us). Skip to 1:05. Warning, disturbing images.
Shawn James (original):
