Oh boy, here we go.

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:34 PM)

Or do Japan's cultural values vary depending on exactly who you're trying to shut down?

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:33 PM)

Could it be that, perhaps, these different cultural values might lead to a different approach seeming appropriate?

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:32 PM)

Hm. Back when we were arguing about the Legends comic, I seem to recall being repeatedly told that Japan had different cultural values than the US (and therefore anyone who had a problem with anything at all was wrong to voice that opinion ever).

@  fourteenwings : (19 February 2020 - 07:23 AM)

Plus, as much as I hate to admit it, every single anime character is built to suit the audience's tastes so they buy more merch/do other things that allow $$$ to flow in the production committees direction, so the authenticity is certainly not for representation's sake.

@  fourteenwings : (19 February 2020 - 07:18 AM)

Both those anime air at midnight and are aimed at a very specific audience in a whole other media landscape. Major projects have press releases about almost everything, and there are groups just waiting to pat anybody on the back for doing what they want (GLAAD, HRC, etc)

@  B-Fox : (19 February 2020 - 03:16 AM)

It's funny that a friggin' anime about zombie idols and an anime about a school of anthropomorphic animals can have really positive trans characters WITHOUT a press release about their inclusion in the series prior to the episodes airing or having the creators announcing it on social media and patting themselves on the back for doing a thing.

Vegans are better than kids if you don't talk to them. They'll keep the lawn trimmed anyway.

@  TheMightyMol... : (18 February 2020 - 06:02 PM)

Do you want vegans? Because that's how you get vegans.

@  CORVUS : (18 February 2020 - 04:33 PM)

Hook up your sprinkler system to a canister of healthy organic carrot-juice. The kids won't be able to get off your lawn fast enough.

Just use the hose.

Google, how do I get those durned kids off my lawn?

Or there's just conveniently no reception, or all of their phones are dead at the same time. Or they're just stupid and forget about them.

Think of all the horror and mystery movies that involve the bad guys cutting the phone line. Now think about how many people don't even have a land line to cut anymore.

It's largely a limitation of the engine (255 btw.) but they'tr slowly working around it by allowing mods to be in the BSA format which don't count towards the cap... for some reason. I don't get it myself, but it's probably something we won't see fixed until they change engines, or supremely upgrade the existing one.

Sadly I didn't have a spell strong enough to re-animate the bear.  And the Sabre-cat... was going to leave him in the cage, but somehow he glitched out and just... wandered around disinterestedly.

The sauce has cranked up to awesome!

Took me a night of bounty hunting/Dragur slaying/poaching/inthanity... but Sheoldred has FINALLY made it to lvl 100 in her Conjuration tree... which I immidiately put a point in the double-down for undead.

It became a lot easier when I realized the soul capture power worked towards the Conjuration lvling... I'd run around with Soul sucking in my left, Elven sword in my right, and tag anything I came across... which, regardless of if you steal their soul, does grind your Conjuration level.

It did get aggrivating at the end... considering how many Vampires where running around the reach.  Past 29 levels she has not run into that many vampires has she has during the last point of Conjuration, and this IS including the Vamps that offed me.

If I wasn't so damn tired I'd sell all the loot (Set of Nord armor) and run to the college to get my Thrall power.

Also... it is fun to turn Spriggon into your undead minions.  It is aggrivating when THEIR minions proceed to maul you.

Wish I'd known you can get the 'thrall' spells at lvl 90.  Would have ran back to the college a lot sooner.

I just happened to find the cabin where Astrid tried to get me to join the Brotherhood. Her dead naked body's still there. Surprisingly, so are all three of the captives I didn't kill. Weird. Too bad there isn't a way to set them free.

I mean, you went back and saw they were still there. They're likely dehydrated, starving, and hallucinating. Nobody is venturing out into the fetid swamps to rescue them. Their friends and families have by this point come to accept the fact they are not coming home.

They've suffered enough, wouldn't you say?

I managed to get skyrim VR downloaded, installed and I am in the process of working out which mods actually work with it. Apparently MOST SSE edition mods do work perfectly fine EXCEPT anything that requires MCM, since skyui DOES NOT work. And alternate start doesn't work, but there is an alternative so no beheading for me! Slowly getting it worked out to a moderately playable state.

Oy, how hugging pretentious. It's not that there's anything wrong with the vanilla game, but I'm so used to stuff added by mods that I don't think I can go back to vanilla.

For the umpteenth time in the game's lifespan, I'm settling in for another crack at getting this game DONE!

And of course, that means overhauling my mod listing. Getting rid of a lot of fluff and nonsense, including for the first time...Frostfall. It's just ceased being fun and became a burden and pain. Tired of over half the map being all but inaccessible because of weather even on "clear" days. I'll keep my Realistic Needs and Diseases mod (I do like that kind of immersion, and RN&D has a pretty brutal - in a good way - disease system), but my days of being stuck on a mountain pass for in-game days due to a rapid onset blizzard are over.

But of course, with all things out obvious new things enter in.

Creepier Daedric Princes - Just...watch the YouTube videos on the description. That'll explain why this is going in.

Guards Armor Replacer - Tired of seeing the same old uniforms after so many years. Spicing it up a bit.

Project AHO - Always a sucker for new content.

Treasure Hunter's Garb - Also a sucker for new/more armors.

Wintersun - Faiths of Skyrim - Some much needed depth for a sorely lacking aspect of the game, despite the fact it plays so prominent a role in the various stories.

So something I missed with the Guard Replacer mod...it's also functionally a replacer for Stormcloak armor.

M1MCsep.jpg

It actually looks really good. Unfortunately, it also doesn't mesh AT ALL with the Stormcloak capes in the Cloaks of Skyrim mod. Decisions may be made soon, on that front.

M3Lr08p.jpg

Glad the replacer textures mesh well with vanilla(ish) assets. Ralof's special armor even reflects light realistically (The sun reflection on his armor reflects the position of the sun in the sky). This mod is no lightweight.

Since Stormcloaks are getting some love, not sure if I ever showed off the Imperial Overhaul I put in some time ago, called Perfect Legionnaire:

jKM9iMe.jpg

Gives Imperials some common sense cold protection as well as call backs to the classic Imperial armors of Morrowind. Unlike the Guard Replacer, Legionnaire actually works really well with Cloaks of Skyrim. Only problem with it is if you end up going with the Stormcloaks, you'll run across a few Imperials wearing some seriously high level armor. I've taken to not looting them to avoid breaking the game.

I'm on my 4th time in a row trying to revamp Nora the Fiend Blooded.

1st time I saved but didn't realize the smith in Whiterun had been killed by a vampire.
2nd time I screwed up on leveling and put too much into smithing, leaving her lopsided
3rd time some glitch occured where I was not able to continue the Companion quest... Glemoral coven wouldn't come up.  I think it was because an adventurer note pointed me there early and I waited to long before I went there.

Now... I'm making good time.  I'm staying away from side-quests until after I have completed the questline.

Took out Perfect Legionnaire for Heavy Legion. It's a mod done by the same guy who did the Guard Replacer mod. Beautifully done armor that is lore friendly and unlike PL, doesn't give the Legion crazy potent armor in the starting section. Have yet to come across any Legion worth modelling the armor but it fits in with the Guard Replacer really well.

Speaking of Guard Replacer, got to Whiterun. Definitely have a guard force worthy of the name now.

eCFTWI1.jpg

You can see why I did ultimately decide to remove Capes of Skyrim, as the Hold Guard capes don't mesh well with the new armor at all.

I also downloaded another mod along the same vein of armor replacers...

Byc2D9q.jpg

Brigandage adds some spice and variety to the various Bandits.

And after all these years of playing the game, it gets kind of boring. So I've gone far and away out of my comfort zone this run. The big one - no Lockpicking. Locked chests and doors are staying that way unless I can find the key. That takes away a central component of the gameplay, and limits the amount of loot I'm going to get from dungeons and the like but it's such a "gimme" skill. If I find the game being too hampered by the lack of this skill, I have a backup plan.

No Alchemy either. I already use Respectable Inventory to ensure the alchemy shops aren't lacking in their principle function. Debating on enchanting, but again it's sort of like Lockpicking in that it's a "gimme" skill and I know there's mods out there that let you commission existing enchanters to enchant your gear.

No, this run I'm focusing on cooking. With overhauls of course, but not one that simplifies the ingredients list. So far it's actually been a lot of fun and has seen my loot priorities shift accordingly. Combat-wise, I plan to stick almost exclusively to Two Handed weapons. I also plan to have my guy know how to fire a Crossbow (Kind of necessary for Dragons). Alteration is a skill I'm planning to make use of, maybe Illusion too but no Restoration, Destruction, or Conjuration. I'm also doing all this in Light Armor as a sort of "Barbarian" run, but more like Swordsmaster as I plan to keep my weapon choices to bladed varieties. No stealth skills what-so-ever.

Here's my dude:

BoAZsQ1.jpg

Named him Silaar. Soul Servant, in the language of the Dov.

While Cloaks of Skyrim doesn't mesh well with Guard Replacer, Cloaks and Capes, a smaller less well known mod actually does. Love the hoods on these things.
