That might actually be a fake noise they make electric cars make so pedestrians can hear them. Some cars even let you pick out what noise they make.

@  wonko the sane? : (13 May 2021 - 11:20 AM)

Actually heard a car with that electric, scifi-hum to it. Made me realize that we kinda are living in the future...

Nearly thirty Studio Series figs including the '86 line. "I won't touch that." I said a few years ago when deluxe wave 5 came to my store for a tenner each. My latest one' is 72 Starscream.

The 1988 G1 line up could all have been done as Titan Master things, I figure the Pretenders could be done as Titan Master Drones and Prime Master shells.

@  Cyoti : (08 May 2021 - 11:14 AM)

Perfect is the enemy of the good. And it's still better than making him a remold of RTS Jazz as planned originally. Fact of the matter is: Nightbeat is just not a priority with Hasbro.

@  Demovere Xeno : (08 May 2021 - 08:58 AM)

Generations Nightbeat never really scratched that itch sadly; he looked okay, but his transformation was fiddly, his robot mode had far too many bits and pieces flopping around unsecured, and his chest dragged along the surface in var mode. =/

@  Demovere Xeno : (08 May 2021 - 08:57 AM)

I second wishing that we got a Deluxe Nightbeat from TR, mostly because as a kid he was second-in-command to my old Powermaster Optimus for the longest time. =P

@  tigerhawk : (08 May 2021 - 05:41 AM)

Wipe Out and Wilder it coulda been: Wipe Out is down in the dumps because the Scramble City Trypticon was destroyed and left him a drifting to the point he arrives in Legends World, he finds Wilder and both go on a crime spree subverted by their realisation neither gets any joy from it until they stop a violent crook together and become anti heroes. (Bass XO beat me!)

@  Bass X0 : (08 May 2021 - 05:39 AM)

Yes, Nightbeat and Siren would have been easy remolds of Chromedome - just give them new chests and each other's Titan Master heads. Fangry and Squeezeplay would be remolded from Twinferno with their own Titan Master heads. And Horri-Bull would have been remolded from Wolfwire.

@  Rycochet : (07 May 2021 - 05:10 PM)

Surprised we didn't get a full size retool from the monsterbot mold. I'd rather have a CW Ironhide retool though, we need a van Wilder.

@  tigerhawk : (07 May 2021 - 04:19 PM)

I just noticed Wilder was the only omission from Takara Legends.

@  Nevermore : (07 May 2021 - 06:01 AM)

Even more weirdly, it was the early shift where some people had their regular day off for the week, while the late shift was supposed to have full attendance (not counting sick days, vacations and overtime reduction).

@  Nevermore : (07 May 2021 - 01:15 AM)

The weirdest part was that there was a steady influx of voters during the early shift, while hardly anyone showed up during the late shift.

@  Nevermore : (07 May 2021 - 01:14 AM)

Wow, that was a long day. But it's over, and I finally got some sleep. Not particularly happy with the outcome, but then again, my candidates both admit they didn't really campaign that much.

It's a fairly well known fact that "it's a wonderful life" only became popular after it dropped into the public domain. So, yeah, they probably did.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (02 May 2021 - 08:29 PM)

I read an interesting observation on Twitter. If it is the natural course of a human to grow into Grandpa Abe yelling at a cloud, but nostalgia also yields rose-tinted glasses for the likes of one's youth, then did Greatest Generation adults bemoan how Baby Boomer children loved box office flops such as The Wizard of Oz and It's a Wonderful Life?

@  Otaku : (02 May 2021 - 09:26 AM)

At the same time, with my almost non-existent knowledge of Japanese and how oddly some things translate, seeing "Gorgeous Giorgios Gorges" made me wonder if that would make it "JoJoJo"... which now has my brain terrified of a weird Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo/Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Crossover. @[email protected]

@  Otaku : (02 May 2021 - 09:24 AM)

It is always weird when things align.  This talk of Gorgeous Giorgios Gorges in the SquawkBox reminded me of King Gorgeous Gorge on the FoxBox.

@  -LittleAutob... : (01 May 2021 - 08:52 PM)

Nice

@  Nevermore : (01 May 2021 - 09:03 AM)

I got one even better: After that character by the name of Gorgeous Giorgios dies in a gorge, they name that whole area after him: The Gorgeous Giorgios Gorges.

@  tigerhawk : (30 April 2021 - 01:56 AM)

Paint apps did slide notably during TR, wave one's Titan Masters had detail but wave 2 onwards was absent of them. Wave 5's Ramhorn, Dreadnaut, Scorchfire and Aimless had detail but Murk and Hazard didn't, can't speak for Flameout as I got Legends Twintwist and Slugslinger.

@  kizudarake : (29 April 2021 - 04:50 PM)

Anyone here got any g1 jet fire parts for sale?

@  wonko the sane? : (29 April 2021 - 04:12 PM)

Other than a few overly tight joints, the paints apps are my single complaint about the generations line.

Here's the thing.. BLM was never about "hating the cops." It's about the dismantling the systemic and corrupt system that consistently allows cops to commit racist actions and be shielded from any outfall from it.

I know that. But it's the false narrative put forward by the right. This is an opportunity to counter that narrative by showing that hey, we do care about good cops and you don't.

Meanwhile, the Newark Police put in place reforms after being called out and investigated for their horrendous record, and went the whole of 2020 without shooting anyone or being sued for brutality. Police reforms work.

I really wish that the BLM protesters had gone with the reform branding rather than defunding, the police unions and republicans would have had a far harder time fearmongering against even the idea of it.

People have been pushing for reforms in policing in the US for DECADES now. There was no overt or significant signs that they ever intended to do it. Might as well change what you're screaming the protests; at least make things interesting for you.

If you're going to change branding, you should probably change it to something better, not something that makes common sense reform easier to misrepresent and run against.

While I agree with you (wholeheartedly.) in principal... They're not going to reform or defund the police. Might as well just start yelling voodoo curses, it'll have the same effect.

Here's an example of the good that can come from actually literally defunding the police:

https://theappeal.or...g-homelessness/

The Austin City Council voted today to purchase one hotel and turn it into 60 units of permanent supportive housing for people experiencing chronic homelessness. The vote to purchase a second hotel has been postponed to next week after a city council member asked for more time to gather feedback from her constituents.

Under the measure, the city will spend approximately $6.7 million from its Housing and Planning Department’s general obligation bonds to acquire one hotel and use some money from a recurring $6.5 million fund taken from the police department’s budget to provide services to the residents of the hotel. At full occupancy (which wouldn’t happen this year), services and operating costs for the hotel are expected to be about $1.6 million annually.

“In the wake of Black Lives Matter protests this summer, we made a significant cut to policing dollars and reinvested that in things like this,” said Council Member Gregorio Casar, who led the effort to cut police funding and sponsored an amendment last August that set aside $6.5 million in recurring funding to be used for permanent supportive housing and services. “That’s how we’re paying for this. That’s the only reason we’re able to do this.”

Yeah. The idea is to give the police the biggest guns available so they can kill as many black people as possible. Reforms and funding social projects don't help annihilating non-white people!

Yeah that's the thing, isn't it? Trying to present "reasonable" or "compromise" solutions to appear less radical doesn't work against Republicans. They'll call you a communist extremist no matter how pleasantly center-right you try to sell it.

They would try, but they would have a fat harder time getting that fearmongering to actually gain traction with anyone outside of the people who watch 6 hours of fox news a day. Just because you know someone will try to smear something in the mnost disingenuous way, doesn't mean you have to make it easy for them.

https://www.thedaily...9-year-old-girl

Meanwhile, in police douchbaggery, they're defending pepperspraying a 9 year old. Isn't it great that police unions are the only ones that seem immune to the endless republican attacks on the public sector unions and union organising in general?

Really, this is the perfect example of what Defund The Police would mean in action.

A call regarding no criminal activity, but "family trouble", should not elicit the arrival of armed enforcers of the law. But because sheriffs and police departments like to monopolize city/county funding for their agencies, they claimed responsibility for responding to these sorts of calls as well. There should be an independent social services response unit in cases like this routed there by 911. Aggressive responders for situations that require aggressive response, not all-purpose responders who have to decide on scene and on the fly to be aggressive or not.

Even aggressive responders should be able to physically overpower a 9 year old and get her in the car without pepper spray.

I watched the full video and I am more confused than before. They already had her handcuffed and halfway in the car. Even if I buy the explanation that it's haaard for a literal army of physically fit officers to get a thrashing and kicking 9 year old into the back of a car and shut the door, she wasn't doing that. She was just sitting there. There appears to be no reason whatsoever that they could not get her the rest of the way into the car and wrap this thing up. They have her butt on the seat for several minutes giving her contradictory commands (Sit up. Get in the car. Stand up.(?) Sit back.) until they apparently get bored. Then they calmly ready their pepper spray canisters and spray her in the face.

This is not another case of cops going in too aggressively and acting before taking even half a second to assess the scene. They took absolutely all the time in the world to assess the scene before deciding to pepper spray a kid in the face because at that point they apparently just felt like it.
