While I agree with you in principal: the problem here isn't the internet service providers. Though the onus of fixing it as a systemic problem is probably on them.

@  TM2-Megatron : (20 April 2021 - 03:16 PM)

then how would honest Canadian companies like Rogers or Bell be able to overcharge you for content, or not even make the content available in your region for varied and unknowable reasons?

@  wonko the sane? : (20 April 2021 - 02:33 PM)

It's on the internet, but the internet is being treated like it's regional. It doesn't matter that I'm in canada, It's the internet. Stop enforcing outdated and completely arbitrary broadcast restrictions on the global telecommunication network.

@  wonko the sane? : (20 April 2021 - 02:32 PM)

Nope, security is not my concern at all.

@  PlutoniumBoss : (20 April 2021 - 01:56 PM)

I mean, if you're not worried about security and just using it to access geolocked content, there are free vpns.

@  wonko the sane? : (20 April 2021 - 11:43 AM)

To watch cartoons on a free streaming program? Might as well write my representative if I have to fix problems other people caused.

No.. It's Tiberious Maximus... And there is a comic with such already. :D

@  Donocropolis : (12 April 2021 - 11:15 AM)

Yes. Color it like the Energon version of Unicron. Also, give us Fortress Tiberious.

@  wonko the sane? : (12 April 2021 - 09:49 AM)

Great. Now I want a borg cube unicron...

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (12 April 2021 - 09:00 AM)

We still need Transformers x Star Trek toy.

@  TheMightyMol... : (12 April 2021 - 05:39 AM)

I saw most of them at retail at TRU, but that's not an option in the US anymore.

@  tigerhawk : (12 April 2021 - 04:21 AM)

Dibs on naming the Ark robot Arkonus.

@  Kalidor : (11 April 2021 - 09:48 PM)

The only Titan figure I ever saw at retail was Trypticon at Ollie's

@  PlutoniumBoss : (11 April 2021 - 09:12 PM)

Robosen Prime has market crossover with not just the toy collectors, but robotics enthusiasts quite willing to pay that price for a product like this.

@  wonko the sane? : (11 April 2021 - 08:33 PM)

One of my two local TRUs will stock exactly ONE titan at a time. It usually ends up "clearanced" for about 20 bucks off cause no one is willing to pay for at full price OR discounted.

@  TheMightyMol... : (11 April 2021 - 07:56 PM)

Most stores don't seem to want to stock Commanders or Titans, never mind Unicron.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (11 April 2021 - 07:55 PM)

I wonder if Unicron going to crowdfuning wasn't just a price issue but also stores not wanting to stock and transport something so huge.

@  TM2-Megatron : (11 April 2021 - 07:47 PM)

It is, although this thing could also be considered a STEM educational tool

@  TheMightyMol... : (11 April 2021 - 07:33 PM)

Doesn't change the fact that, for most people, $700 is a pretty hefty investment for a toy.

@  TM2-Megatron : (11 April 2021 - 07:17 PM)

I dunno, $700 doesn't seem that bad for what it does. Some of those Masterpiece figures seem to go for at least half that price, and they don't have any actual robots or even electronics.

@  TheMightyMol... : (11 April 2021 - 05:35 PM)

Not to mention wallet-shattering.

Just do a news search for Baltimore and police.

There's enough content from the Feds' report for its own thread.

Sadly, the sexual misconduct cases are apparently a not uncommon nationwide issue.

Florida police train civilians about lethal use of force scenarios, then accidentally shoot to death a civilian role-playing...wait for it...AS THE VICTIM.
The response is "administrative leave" pending investigation.
http://abcnews.go.co...ory?id=41259433
Let that sink in. The officer, not only used a live round for role-play, but SHOT THE WRONG PERSON.
*smh*

Ironically, this lady showed up, because she wanted to shown support for the policd in view of all the stuff in the media lately.

Right now, the police department is invesitating how live rounds made it into the revolver used many times before for such exercises.

Here's my question. Why aren't they investigating whose bright idea it was to use A REAL GUN AT ALL, when a Nerf blaster or a cap gun would have sufficed?

This is mind-numbingly stupid.

Guns aren't toys.

And exercises like these aren't games. They use real guns because there is no substitute for holding a real gun in your hands.  Nerf, cap guns, tasers, none of them have the weight, feel, heft of a real gun.

Exercises are meant to be training for the real world.  It is only appropriate for them to use the real thing.

There's a ton of stupidity to complain about and investigate here.  The use of real firearms is not one of them.

They're not real training exercises, though. They're demonstrations for civilians to help them understand how police operate.

How does the use of fake guns change that?

I didn't need to use real knives and guns when learning self-defense in martial arts classes. What makes this any different?

Gonna disagree with you Rhinox.  You can have a piece of pot metal in the shape and weight of a gun.  You don't have to have a gun in this situation.  Ever.

Ironbite-and if you have to have one, USE ONE THAT'S BEEN TOTALLY MADE SAFE!

See, that's where I'm at.

For the purposes of the exercise, you use a gun.  But you use one that's safe.

We hand load every gun we use at the range. We know exactly what bullets are where, it's part of the class, loading, unloading, et al.  How did this person not know what was loaded in his gun unless he wasn't doing his job properly?  Same thing with the exercise coordinator.  How did a real bullet get into this area?   You had 2 safety nets, both of which are human interaction with the weapon.  For both of those to fail shows a severe issue with training, supervision, and accountability.

There's no such thing as a safe gun. It's a weapon designed to kill. The only safety is in the people that use it.

Explain to me again how use of a Nerf gun, or, heaven forbid, imagination, would in any way ruin the effectiveness of this kind of a demonstration with civilians?

There are very real solutions to these training issues. They DO make solid polymer guns, that are weighted like the real thing for training scenarios. They also make training barrels, that replace the real barrel in a firearm. These are solid polymer with no open chamber, so its impossible to chamber a round. These allow you 100% authentic handling, if you need to simulate mag changes, malfunction drills, trigger pull etc.
I finally got rid of that big white box.

The fact that things like um13 just mentioned exist mean that smarter people have already concluded that this could be a fucking problem and sensible middle ground between "use a nerf gun!" and "use a real gun!" already exists. How about we just use the fake gun that looks and feels like a real gun but cannot fire or chamber anything like a real one could?

Yes. That would be why someone died and using a toy/any other non-real gun would have been a better solution.

Let's cleanse our pallettes with details of the Baltimore investigation.

https://www.washingt...ice-department/

The template provides a blueprint for arresting an individual standing on or near a public housing development who cannot give a valid reason for being therea facially unconstitutional detention. Equally troubling is the fact that the template contains blanks to be filled in for details of the arrest, including the arrest data and location and the suspects name and address, but does not include a prompt to fill in the race or gender of the arrestee. Rather, the words black male are automatically included in the description of the arrest. The supervisors template thus presumes that individuals arrested for trespassing will be African American.

One African-American man in his mid-fifties was stopped 30 times in less than four years. The only reasons provided for these stops were officers suspicion that the man was loitering or trespassing, or as part of a CDS investigation. On at least 15 occasions, officers detained the man while they checked to see if he had outstanding warrants. Despite these repeated intrusions, none of the 30 stops resulted in a citation or criminal charge.

Officers often targeted black pedestrians for stops without reasonable suspicion. Based on a sample of about 7,200 cases, only 1 out of every 27 pedestrian stops resulted in a citation or arrest.

Such stops would often occur under a supervisors directives to clear corners, a practice of stopping and questioning a group and ordering them to scatter. During a ride-along with Justice Department officials, a sergeant told a patrol officer to clear a corner, but the patrol officer said he had no reason to stop them.

The sergeant replied, Then make something up.

It's pretty bad when you're directing an officer below you to make something up, while the Feds are literally right there watching you. Makes you wonder about what happens when they're not.

http://www.baltimore...0810-story.html

In one case, Justice Department officials said they found evidence in internal affairs files that officers were coercing sexual favors from people involved in the sex trade, in exchange for avoiding arrest, or for cash or narcotics, yet it appeared that police failed to adequately investigate the allegations.

One woman interviewed by Baltimore police in 2012 said that she met with an officer and engaged in sexual activities in the officer's patrol car once every other week "in exchange for U.S. Currency or immunity from arrest," the federal report said.

Baltimore police administratively closed the case nine months later and apparently didn't refer it for criminal prosecution, or interview the accused officer or potential witnesses, according to the report.

These kinds of cases are especially heinous, because victims are afraid to speak up, due tonfear of collective police retaliation.

Look at it this way. Our own government is effectively raping our women.

P.S. This isn't all of the worst stuff in the report.

Yeah right. The media has more coverage about a rogue judge sentencing one kid to parole than systematic sexual transgressions by our own police that aren't even prosecuted.

Think about it. Even in P&R, it gets its own thread with multiple replies analyzing all the details, while this gets...*crickets chirping*
