@  Bass X0 : (22 June 2017 - 05:47 PM)

No. We still say miles. Kilometers is only really used for actual specific distances whereas miles being used in a common phrase is still miles.

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (22 June 2017 - 04:59 PM)

People from outside the U.S.: as we are all English-proficient here, do you ever use the phrase "I saw it coming from miles away.", or do you say "kilometers" instead?

@  Hg Dragon : (22 June 2017 - 04:06 PM)

Wow, that was supposed to :shout" hours ago...

@  Hg Dragon : (22 June 2017 - 04:05 PM)

Indeed. Especially on opening week. We're talking avg, 5-8%. It's more at your discount/sub-run houses.

@  Steevy Maximus : (22 June 2017 - 10:25 AM)

AMC knows it, freakin $7 for a regular drink

@  Paladin : (22 June 2017 - 08:22 AM)

and if you want to support your theaters, buy more concessions. because they get SHIT from the ticket sales...

@  Hg Dragon : (22 June 2017 - 08:15 AM)

So, we charged an extra $1 per. F'em

@  Hg Dragon : (22 June 2017 - 08:13 AM)

First, they threatened to stop sending us digital because we weren't upcharging for it (back when we were still "mixed" format). Then they threatened to stop sendingus 3D because we didn't upcharge for those either initially.

@  Hg Dragon : (22 June 2017 - 08:12 AM)

Can't blame the theater totally for those ticket prices. The studios have a say in them as well.

@  Noideaforaname : (22 June 2017 - 12:00 AM)

Charge 'em for the lice! Extra for the mice! Two percent for looking in the mirror twice!

@  TM2-Megatron : (21 June 2017 - 11:45 PM)

Even here in Canada where price gouging is commonplace, IMAX 3-D is still $19.50

@  TM2-Megatron : (21 June 2017 - 11:44 PM)

$27 a ticket? That's ludicrous

@  Sean Whitmore : (21 June 2017 - 11:40 PM)

I gave up on IMAX this year. I was just about able to put up with $20 per ticket, but by the time the new Kong came out, my theater started charging $27 per. They must be outside their damn minds.

@  unitremover : (21 June 2017 - 10:50 PM)

I paid for a ticket to a 2D showing but they showed it in 3D anyways for some reason. I think me taking an Ibuprofen before I went for other reasons is the only reason I didn't walk out with a massive headache.

@  TM2-Megatron : (21 June 2017 - 10:38 PM)

One thing I'll give Bay and/or the promoters of this film... I like how they've advertised on the poster that this was actually shot with real, IMAX 3-D cameras. I wish the marketing of other films exhibited a similar interest in the quality of the equipment used. Hell, for some films, being visually interesting is about all they have going for them

@  TM2-Megatron : (21 June 2017 - 10:35 PM)

I assume the Autobots will be even bigger assholes in this one, especially Optimus

@  TM2-Megatron : (21 June 2017 - 10:35 PM)

I have my ticket to see it in IMAX this Saturday... looking forward to another bizarre, 3 hour spectacle of something or other

@  wonko the sane? : (21 June 2017 - 08:58 PM)

Bay already said he won't do another... but what does a persons word mean these days anyway. Doesn't really matter how bad the movies are (or aren't. You know, whatever floats your goat.) so long as they make money. And his flicks do make money.

@  Telly : (21 June 2017 - 06:12 PM)

maybe this one will do poor enough that theyll have to rethink their entire strategy going forward. and hopefully this WILL be bays last one (specially if it does do poorly). well, rethink after bumblebee anyway

@  wonko the sane? : (21 June 2017 - 06:07 PM)

Yeah... the reception for the movie has been... mixed to poor to say the least. Thanksfully, I gave up on the bayverse films after the first one.

@  Telly : (21 June 2017 - 05:46 PM)

well theres SOMETHING showing in movie theaters. whether it can actually be CALLED a "movie" seems to be debatable

@  Patchouli Kn... : (21 June 2017 - 05:45 PM)

Oh, is the new movie out?

@  Dracula : (21 June 2017 - 05:41 PM)

@  Nevermore : (21 June 2017 - 02:50 PM)

"Bowdlerizing" basically means censorship, in the "removing anything the person in charge of the editing considers unsuitable for children" sense.

@  Foffy : (21 June 2017 - 01:38 PM)

Sorry, not sure what happened there. Shout edited; link should work now.

@  Robowang : (21 June 2017 - 01:29 PM)

So bowdlerizing is sending someone to a 404 link?

@  Foffy : (21 June 2017 - 09:49 AM)

http://tvtropes.org/...Main/Bowdlerise

@  Robowang : (21 June 2017 - 09:46 AM)

What the hell is "bowdlerlize"?

@  unluckiness : (21 June 2017 - 08:39 AM)

Language evolves. As long as enough people know what the other's talking about, they'll use whatever term's handy despite incorrect etymology or meaning.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (21 June 2017 - 06:48 AM)

Just saying, it doesn't suggest that Xanatos "changed the face of cartoon villainy", which would require something like influence of Xanatos himself on cartoons in general. His name being used as a shorthand on the internet isn't really relevant to this, especially when it's not about his fame specifically.

@  Patchouli Kn... : (21 June 2017 - 05:36 AM)

The English language is a bit like that, though. We know what it means to bowdlerize something, even if very few of us remember Thomas Bowdler.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (21 June 2017 - 01:58 AM)

The Grandfather Clause page outright says that Xanatos Gambit is kept at that name not because Xanatos is super famous and influential but simply because the term itself is used a lot on the internet.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (21 June 2017 - 01:53 AM)

The site's had a history of being weirdly biased to naming things after specific examples even when it's not the best choice, though it used to be worse (i.e. Spikeification)

@  NotVeryKnightly : (21 June 2017 - 01:49 AM)

TVT's naming choice is hardly proof of that a character "changed the face of cartoon villainy".

@  RichardT1977 : (20 June 2017 - 10:47 PM)

I'd say he's second only to the Big Bad of "Watchmen" in that regard (younger fans sometimes check out this website, and I'd rather not spoil his identity until they're old enough to read the comic).

@  RichardT1977 : (20 June 2017 - 10:46 PM)

Proving just how much Xanatos changed the face of cartoon villainy.

@  Sean Whitmore : (20 June 2017 - 10:28 PM)

My favorite trope is "Xanatos Gsmbit", but my favorite name for a trope is "Xanatos Speed Chess"

@  Paladin : (20 June 2017 - 04:19 PM)

they're good dogs, Dracula.

@  Dracula : (20 June 2017 - 01:33 PM)

I quite like "All Animals Are Dogs"

@  RichardT1977 : (20 June 2017 - 01:03 PM)

Mine would be the Funny Moments page for Dragon Ball Z Abridged.

@  Bass X0 : (20 June 2017 - 01:02 PM)

My favourite pages are "comic book time", "not allowed to grow up" and "did not do the research".

@  Paladin : (20 June 2017 - 08:48 AM)

is it after 1997? then probably bad.

Well, with Lugnut his clip-on domes are replaced with those "tubines" introduced in the AOE kits. Hoist's hollow-ring "hook" got replaced by a similar but noticably different piece. Both you can see in my comparison pics and are pretty easy to spot.

Ah, I got it now.

My 52431 Hoist and Lugnut both have original part loadouts and hybrid arms. No hue differences between these and originals that I could spot.

(...I could probably stand to have some better light, though...)

........is there any chance you might be able to find the Kreon Warrior blindbags? They never showed up Stateside. I still need like seven of those to complete the set.

If I could piggyback on this, that is something I'd be interested in as well.  I don't have any of the Warrior blindbags.   :(

I was at Wal-Mart today but I didn't see any blindbags there. Sorry, guys.

All this Kre-O talk makes me lament the discontinuation of Schyling's Lego minifigure cases. I still have a good deal of micro changers and the AOE combiners to include.

On that note, I am missing the Ratchet from the AOE Dino hauler set in the AOE 'section' (top row, blue case). Had to settle for the 'custom kreon'.

Your local stores may vary, but Five Below carries/carried these clear-plastic separator bins that are PERFECT for Kreons, Lego Minifigures, and the like. 13 compartments that can hold like 3 or 4 minis each (depending on accessories), and one large 2-tall tray.

And they cost a whopping $3.

tumblr_ne4g29prG71qmnujko1_1280.jpg

Again, these haven't been shipping new in a long time, but some stores may still have them.

I use those same ones. You can buy them at Michael's for between $3 and $4 if Five Below doesn't have them.

Great for storage, but not display. Of course like hell i'd be able to fit most of my Kre-O Joes in those Lego cases because of their guns.

Okay, over the downtime, I went looking for Colelction 1 the next big city over, and nope. So gonna need to buy/trade for those. However, I bear odd news of Collection 4!

Apparently the UPC/stamp-codes for the new-body Kreons is also used by series 4 (which are still dated 2013 in the legal info), which I found at Dollar General then at several Walgreens stores. The bodies are the old style but have some deco changes.

Cyclonus is back to lavender, but with painted-purple cuffs, making him match the stock imagery/instructions, rather than the lavender cuffs of that once-rareish variant. Slipstrike also has brighter lavender accents on her torso than the original.

I'm now left wondering what other changes may or have not been made to Collection 4 in the changeover, and am quite possibly stupid enough to try and bag-feel them all to check. Iceberg's stock images seem to make some of his chest tampos dark red rather than the final gray, so perhaps that's one change I'll find. At the very least, this assortment has a good number of interesting parts in interesting colors, good for my spares for digibashing.

Also, I'm wondering if there's a no-individual-stamp-codes version of Collection 3 somewhere.

The rabbit hole just gets deeper...

Nope, Jetwash was from the first series of AOE Micro-Changers, which was (at least in the US) TRU-only at first. These showed up later at Five Below, but were still the old initial run with the bag-codes.

Yeah, I have to say, I just received the "Class of 1985" set the other day, and I'm amazed at the quality difference between these and the earlier bodies.  It's a shame that so many transformers lines always seem to end right around the time the designers are really getting into their groove.

Minor update. No news on new releases we don't know about, but something I discovered about the 2015-mold guys...

These new tampographs are a LOT tougher. I've been using Sculpey to loosen the tampographs on old extras to make some "blanks" of various colors for custom imagery. It's a nice trick: press a bit to the tampo, leave for a few hours, come back, peel, and the paint, if it doesn't come off with the Sculpey, is loosened and can be removed with a tissue and a bit of vigorous rubbing. (Goo Gone on a q-tip also helps but may also remove a bit of plastic sheen.)

I tried this on a spare-spare Rampage head, and that tampo ain't budging, and it was left in the Sculpey overnight. Not even any paint on the Sculpey when pulled away. Hm.
