I got stabbed in the eyelid by a mudwasp, pulled down a tree, and then got ice cream. You know, all told: not a bad day.

@  Benbot : (15 October 2019 - 08:02 AM)

What's your favorite Paleolithic megafauna?

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 October 2019 - 10:06 PM)

Together with the Rhino G1 sets, probably the most expensive DVDs I ever bought

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 October 2019 - 10:01 PM)

I've still got the age-old Rhino sets

@  Telly : (14 October 2019 - 09:09 PM)

i didnt find that at any of the ones around here, so i had to settle for seasons 1 and 2 of duckman for $3

@  Steevy Maximus : (14 October 2019 - 07:45 PM)

Heck, I got the season 2/3 set for $3 (?) from a Dollar General discount bin :p

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 October 2019 - 07:29 PM)

The series is pretty cheap on DVD, too, which at least will work internet or no. The complete series set seems to be OOP, but there's a Season 1 set as well as a combined 2 & 3 set.

@  wonko the sane? : (14 October 2019 - 06:10 PM)

Woot! Beast wars!

@  Steevy Maximus : (14 October 2019 - 06:08 PM)

Yay! Tubi now has the first season of Rescue Bots and the full run of Beast Wars FINALLY available.

@  Benbot : (14 October 2019 - 02:16 PM)

Just like me in a game of Civilization. Don't have gunpowder? Time for your cities to burn.

He dubbed the peoples that saw him as bad news cannibals and savages before enslaving and wiping them out too.

@  wonko the sane? : (14 October 2019 - 01:40 PM)

And if they had been unfriendly: he would have simply slaughtered them with diseases they couldn't fight, and technology they couldn't match until they as a people did not exist. There's something about european backgrounds that drive us to exploit.

@  Rycochet : (14 October 2019 - 11:02 AM)

He described the peoples he encountered as some of the most friendly and giving in the world, so naturally, he ate all their food, enslaved them and put them to work looking for gold that did not exist, until they as a people did not exist.

I saw Kalidor's note about needing instructions for Reflector's camera mode, and I happen to have him on my desk, so here's a little guide for anyone who needs it.

First, recreate these three poses.

reflector1_zpsonbanurv.JPG

Next, connect the arms together up front to make the front of the camera body. (Yes, he will be this loose and fiddly until the last step.)

reflector2_zpsbccwltug.JPG

Connect the two arms in the back. (You'll straighten out the rest of this mess in a minute.)

reflector3_zpsois482bv.JPG

Take the back panel formed by the arms and tuck it down into the gray post sticking out of the front Reflector. This will mostly stabilize everything but the legs.

reflector4_zps3hcksv4e.JPG

The bottom should look like this. The feet will soooort of grab onto pieces in the middle, but they won't stay very well.

reflector6_zps6z7gqkb5.JPG

Final look from the top/front.

I'd done almost all of this.  I'd neglected to fold the arms that wind up in the rear underneath the center.  I bet that's the special sauce that makes the whole thing feel much more solid.

Thanks!  This is super helpful!

ALERT: Everything is fine.

You're welcome!

I just had the back arms hanging there as well, and he was a floppy mess. I just happened to be fiddling with him and tried tucking that panel into the center, and it worked! It was either intended or is a very happy coincidence. It adds a lot of stability.

This is super silly, but the fact that it works even a little bit is insane.

Reflector really is a tremendously great souvenir.

Thanks for the instructions!

Many, many thanks, Robowang! My friend attended the 'Con and brought back Reflector for me, but I've been unsure about how it all fits together. He really is an insanely awesome little set!

Hasbro, when they designed him. Shockwave was the planned retool that just happened to get released first.

Did they actually say that? Because everything about that mold is Shockwave, he clearly seems like he was at the forefront of the design process.

I don't have direct confirmation from Hasbro reps themselves, but people who worked on the convention have said so. Reflector wasn't a FubPub originated concept. It came direct from Hasbro.

Not exactly. Reflector was always the retool. A Hasbro rep said that the camera mode wasn't exactly planned, but that they were aware something like it could be done when they planned out the head.

Even on his own, a single Reflector works just fine as a sci-fi-y camera device. If you fold the arms forward to give him such extra horizontal bulk, it works even better, too!

Reflector really is a great choice for this retool.

Thanks for the clarification. That conflicts with my sources, but they were all secondhand, so I'm going with this.

As goofy as it is, I quite like it. I'll probably call it a Cybertronian camera if I ever get one.

Though I still wish one of them had a silver stomach to represent Viewfinder.

...now I have to get myself another two of Shockwave so I can try it with that version.

SOmeone needs to pose the Reflector trio as their camera, as a pyramid of sorts, and otherwise as some kind of cheer squad.
