How weird is it that a film made of plastic toys feels LESS artificial than the actual DC Comics movie released this year?

Cue AFoLs trying to see if they can build that (extremely awesome) Batcave.

Is it wrong to be disappointed that there's steam and water that's not made out of bricks in this movie?

It did, but I can forgive that given that it's similar to the lego faces changing shape in the lego movie - have to have the expressive eyes

I'm actually hoping we get some more of Lego Bruce Wayne in this movie. We got a little in the first movie, but here we see Batman still wearing his mask even in the house. I get that it's part of the humor, but Bruce is still supposed to be an important part of Batman's life and self-identity as well. Even if it only one scene, Bats needs to give his mask a break at some point in the movie and let the man under the mask get some face time.

Yeah, I thought that was a pity too. They seem to be being more liberal with letting the minifig limbs flex in ways the hinges wouldn't allow too, and I think did Batman's cowl piece change shape for emoting once or twice?
I think they're certainly letting them get away with more 'flexible' posing, but they were perfectly happy with 'impossible' poses in The LEGO Movie too.

Nah.
This Bruce is all about being emo and writing songs about "no parents."
This isn't the Bruce who's suave and the beau of the gala.
This is a narcissistic Batman who is about as far removed from the classical Batman (and by that virtue, Bruce as well) as possible. So much to the fact, that at some point his west becomes east again, and he mirrors aspects of the classical Batman in an odd, satirical, dark-humour sort of way that can only be described as sublime.
I am totally on-board for that, too, btw.
Batman wearing his mask around the house is exactly how this Batman should be. I don't want him to turn it "off" at any point to pretend to be some pretty-boy billionaire.
Hell, I want him to show up to a WayneTech meeting being his normal dickish self.
If I want to watch classical BatmanB/Bruce, I have BTAS for that.
