Also some guys called Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are playing Batman and Joker but that's less important.

http://www.comicbook...cartoon-network

After months of reports and speculation, Cartoon Network has officially announced its new Justice League animated series. Titled "Justice League Action," the show, like the network's fellow DC Comics-based series "Teen Titans Go!," will run in installments of 11-minute episodes. Notably, the show features the return of both Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman and Mark Hamill as the voice of The Joker, roles they made famous in '90s classic "Batman: The Animated Series."

Here's the official description of the series, which doesn't yet have a premiere date:

"Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman lead the DC Comics Super Heroes against their most infamous foes in adventures packed with relentless thrills, fun and action. No need to wait for the good stuff to start, each eleven-minute episode jumps in with lightning-paced action and heroics. Whether defending the Earth, facing invaders from space, or battling the bizarre forces of magic, the always-rotating team of Justice League heroes, are up to any challenge.

James Woods as Lex Luthor and Diedrich Bader as Booster Gold are also announced for the voice cast. Both have prior experience with DC characters; Woods voiced Owlman in 2010's "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths" feature, and Bader starred as Batman for three seasons of "Batman: The Brave and the Bold."

The announcement is accompanied by the first poster for the series, featuring the latest animated takes on DC icons Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman -- who all appear in March's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" live-action film -- along with black-and-white sketches of Hawkman, Green Arrow, Zatanna, Shazam, The Flash, Blue Beetle, Plastic Man and more in the background; plus a logo clearly inspired by the team's classic comics.

There's been rumblings online of a new Justice League cartoon from Cartoon Network since last year, including a photo surfacing on Reddit showing early promotional art, but today's news marks the first official announcement. A prior "Justice League" series ran on Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2004.

Warner Bros. Animation President Sam Register is executive producer of "Justice League Action," with DC-based animation vets Butch Lukic, Alan Burnett and Jim Krieg all on board as producers.

I dunno, I'm getting the feeling this show might be more along the lines of The Brave and the Bold than Teen Titans Go.

Comic book shows aimed at young kids are one of the only hopes the industry/genre/characters have of snagging the next generation and making new fans.

The big two aren't publishing near enough kid aimed comics nor have they found a real way to make modern kids care about the few they are making.

The best thing they could do for themselves is aim this show squarely at the Teen Titans Go audience.

-ZacWilliam, and pray it's half as big a hit with them.

I have a hard time getting invested in any DC animated TV productions. They'll find out there's a girl watching it and burn down the studio before they can get cooties.

With comic characters increasingly making waves in other media I don't even think it's necessary to publish books targeting them. Since I was a child I adored Batman. Know what drove that? Repeats of the Adam West show, the hype for the first Burton movie and the launch of BTAS.

It was years before I even had access to Batman comic books. A lot of these characters are modern myths and so long as they're represented in some form people will dig deeper.

I just really hope it's representation that's a whole lot better than the crap called TTG!

They just released a series of 15 DC Super Friends shorts (they tell an ongoing story in chapters) - considering the 11 minute runtime, I suspect this will be much the same and comedy-oriented.

I had hoped for a proper 23-minute series which is less Teen Titans Go and more Beware the Batman, but I guess we can wait and see.

The art style certainly makes me think this will be more light-hearted in nature.

-ZacWilliam, tone, style, characters and a sense of fun. Looking forward to this.

Yeah, not sure why they went with Conroy for this. Yes, he is the best serious Batman, but for this maybe somebody else might've been better.

Are ya kidding? In the early BTAS episodes Bruce was making jokes all the time. He at least has a dry wit in the later seasons.

He'll do fine.
