'save the cheerleader' then in season 3 he tears her skull open, scans her power and she simply heals. They didn't think any of it through.

@  Shockwave 75 : (17 June 2021 - 07:04 PM)

Well, you know Hollywood; if something's popular, run it into the ground!

@  Cybersnark : (17 June 2021 - 04:40 PM)

And then there was the Writers' Strike, which isn't the show's fault.

@  Cybersnark : (17 June 2021 - 04:40 PM)

Yeah, Sylar should've been, if not killed off, at least left to rest.

@  Nevermore : (17 June 2021 - 03:43 PM)

It never truly recovered from that.

@  Nevermore : (17 June 2021 - 03:43 PM)

Season 1 was good until the finale.

Thanks to Earthrise I can recreate the end of Return of Optimus Prime part 1.

I wish they would do something like that here: but then it would become obvious in which provinces you're getting gouged.

Here in Germany, the price you see is the price you pay, tax included.

Bass XO is backward compatible with the Sega Master System.

@  Donocropolis : (09 June 2021 - 05:37 AM)

Bass XO has 9" long, dagger-like teeth and a 12,000 lb. bite force

Man.  The news I have seen is just that they are making Thundercats figures in the scale of MotU (about the original scale, a little smaller) and this thread has turned it into a subscription service and the toys will all be terrible.

No one's actually complained about the toys themselves tho, just some saltiness regarding MattyCollector.
I'm waiting fot tomorrow's official reveal so I can be "How bout dem toys, gais?!"

Eh, there'll still be complaints.  Like how the Ghostbusters were all released on the same body sculpt, despite the actors' physical differences, or how they actually wore their uniforms (pants tucked/not tucked in boots).  Or how the particle stream effects pieces didn't come with the original basic releases, so if you wanted them, you had to double-dip on some otherwise insignificantly different set.

Watch the first Lion-O release to come with the Sword of Omens only in its dagger form or something stupid, forcing you to buy a later figure for the real deal.

It's an unsettling pattern of disrespect the company continually shows its "fans".  That little snot of a mascot they use for their fansite is hilariously appropriate to their apparent attitude.  I personally cannot fathom why anyone would hand money to the little punk.

They've frankly got a long way to go in order to earn any form of respect and/or trust, given the long history of shenanigans they've pulled on collectors.  Some of their antics would be excusable at retailer level (like doling out additional accessories for rereleases/variants), but not at exclusive, online-only, for-the-fans double price level.

Yep - Mattel has a well-earned reputation. That doesn't mean we aren't all hoping to be wrong!

The Venkman I have has is pants not tucked into his boots (tho he is slimed. that kinda bugged me)

Eh, I must say I am not happy with the news. I care absolutely nothing for the old show - if they made toys of the awesome designs of the new show, then I'd be interested. Otherwise this is another overpriced deluxe line like the MOTU one to milk the franchise from the pockets of a minority of hardcore fans.

Here's hoping to be wrong because the 4H do a great job sculpting; a MOTUC-style redux of the Tcats will look amazing, it's just the act of getting them that will suuuuuuuuck.

I like the Mumm-ra, but I can do without Liono and Jackalman.  And honestly, I know what I said before, but I've seen pictures now and...if you can't make Thundercats that *I* would buy, you've done a terrible job.  I don't know where you will find a readier market than me.

Maybe me...though none of those really excite me. Let's see what happens if they get around to Cheetara or Pumyra.

Out of genuine curiosity, what are you looking for in a Thundercats "Classic" line?

In my mind, Thundercats aren't He-Man.

The squat, muscle-bound disproportion of the MOTU bucks simply doesn't result in the kind of feline forms that I would like for Thundercats. Lion-O is a tall dude with long legs. This toy is not that.

Something not so ugly.  A 10-year-old made that Liono out of PlayDoh.  I think the eyebrows are the worst, but the hair on him and Jackalman looks really weird.

My first thought was that was a little harsh, as the Four Horsemen are great sculptors.  But upon closer inspection, I do sorta see what you're talking about.  The hair striations are really oddly uniform on those sculpts, and don't look quite natural.

Otherwise, I don't really have much to add here any further than what's been said already.  I'm not a Thundercats fan in the least, never having seen the 80's cartoon, and only a few random eps of the new (cancelled) series.  I can definitely see how the sculpts are looking a little too MotU, though.  Don't remember Lion-O being quite that thick.  Probably Mattel's notorious cheapness at work again, forcing the use of MotU bucks again.

That is a fair point. I could see a He-man buck being good for Panthro, but a slightly leaner look would be better for the rest. Tygra especially will look all wrong if he's that built.

I think they look great actually.

And while Mattel made a lot of mistakes, the new people in charge of the line seem to be a TON better than that giant nerd Toy Guru was.

I forgot to mention the subscription service will not only be spread out over the next four years, but it will involve an annual ad campaign that is equal parts wheedling, pleading and passive-aggressively blaming the consumer for not being dedicated-enough-fans-and-it's-all-your-fault-if-this-fails!

Now that the snivling Scott Nietlich is gone, that's not how they do things.

Also kudos for them showing pretty much all of what to expect in 2016.

Randy
