Sorry for pretty much only coming into Marvel threads to rant about symbiotes, but I'm doing it again.
During the Spider-man panel Jason Latour answered a question about Gwenom.
Q:How is the Gwenom symbiote different from the Marvel Universe symbiote?
A: Latour says that he always liked Venom but hated how random parts of his origin are. So the Gwenom symbiote is tied closer to Spider-Gwen's origins regarding the spider that bit her.
I feel like that's the attitude people have about the symbiote when they're adapting it to other universes/media maybe 90% if the time.
I get where they're coming from with that, but I don't think it really needs to be as complicated as they say it is.
The Venom symbiote is an alien that's like a furry, but for Spider-man. A furry that's a sentient fursuit that needs other people to wear them.
And once they get to earth they start a whole family of these webbys that each have their own take on their dad/grandad's spidersona.
There was also more Venomverse talk from Bunn about how Eddie Brock is the best Venom, yuck, but at least they also mentioned Flash and Andi.

Astonishing X-Men was really good. That's my team right there.
I was so confused by the use of Angel / Archangel in this...I thought they were separate beings...wasn't Archangel just used in one of the other X-books? is this another case of one hand not knowing what the other is doing, like with the Phoenix? sigh
Who are you to change this world? Silly boy!
No one needs to hear your words. Let it go.
Carnivore! Carnivore! Won't you come digest me?
Take away everything I am. Bring it to an end.
Make me fall. Make me bleed. Go ahead and change me?
Take away everything I am. Everything I Am!

Yeah, you're probably thinking about the time-travelling younger Angel that's ACTUALLY from another dimension, but can't seem to return home. He sometimes has flaming wings because he looked into a magic space mirror called the Black Vortex, trying to avert himself from his "future-self's" destiny. But, that could be wearing off at some point.
"Our" Angel/Archangel is actually...well, when he originally became Archangel, trying to cure his mutant condition, Apocalypse also infected him with something else so that he effectively becomes the next Apocalypse if Apocalypse ever died***. Which, I guess he did*, so Archangel became a villain for a while, but was eventually killed and resurrected without any memories. BUT, his alternate Archangel personality eventually resurfaced. He had it split off by Apocalypse cultists, which turned that part of him into an army of ArchAngels, and formed a cult until both "purified" Angel and the new Archangels merged back into one another and became yet another different Archangel and...maybe it's just easier to say he's basically a werewolf now. Or, like, a WereArchangel or whatever.
*Apocalypse got resurrected**, but then the Celestials took him to fight in some war and we never saw him again NOR did we ever see this war. But he got cloned, X-Force(a black ops X-Men team) killed the clone, but one of the members made a different clone for himself to see how nature/nurture worked on a being like Apocalypse. This is when this whole "Dark Archangel" thing started. That kid, now calling himself Genesis, or Evan to his friends, joined Wolverine's Jean Grey School, but was turned evil in Axis, but got better, and ended up joining the other Younger/Time Traveling/Alternate X-men on a road trip.
**Apocalyspe DID die, but WAY before this whole Dark ArchAngel thing, trying to use "The Twelve", who were mutants that were prophesied to be able to kill Apocalypse, but were actually just a LONG term gambit to make a super-weapon by Apocalypse. (Ironic that). He ended up possessing Cyclops, but was eventually exorcised by Jean Grey and assumed killed once and for all.
***Just as a side note, Apocalypse is now just one of a long line of people "chosen" by the Celestials to "help along" natural evolution.
*Looks over what he just wrote*
Yeah, I think that's mostly accurate. X-Men comics: You almost need a doctorate to follow 'em!
