So everyone's favourite building block franchise has thrown down the yellow gauntlet- if Minecraft can do it, they can do it too!
Big massive LEGO sandbox, build anything, do anything, and it's got Johnny Thunder. Woohoo.

As someone that love Minecraft... I think this might end up being better; variety of rideable animals, vehicles, flying vehicles and animals. The driller alone would make creation interesting. ...very tempted to join in on the Early Access of this...

Yeah, might throw down in a few weeks once the bank account is a little more ample.
It has... potential. But so did that failed online lego game. Well, if nothing else; the mod community will make this thing EPIC. And there are more than enough lego fans out there to make sure of it.

Waffle was playing the beta the other day. I couldn't figure out what he was trying to do. It looks neat... there are definately some elements in there that I wish Minecraft had. Mainly the physicis and the building tools.

Man, imagine the stuff you could do if the developer is able to implement certain Lego-specific pieces and features, like Technic pieces and joints. You could build mecha and see them in glorious motion!
Also, they could add LDD file support for those of us who don't have the time to recreate digital builds brick-by-brick.

OK, so having played it for a couple hours, this is definitely an early access game. There's no way to change the keybinds for controls that I found, meaning a lefty like me has a rougher time controlling the character. The movement seems sluggish, and not quite as swift or responsive as other TT Lego games like Marvel Super-Heroes or the Star Wars game.
However, the idea of being able to brick-build anything in the game, with a HUGE amount of available pieces, is really freakin' sweet. Can't wait to run into more minifigs.

Themed? Like the Star Wars and Batman and things? They strangely involve no free building at all and depend solely on a version of the collection mechanic used here. Probably somewhat worrying from a brand synergy perspective just how they expect people to approach their product. But yes, that'll be something new about this game, actually resembling the Lego play pattern.
Shouldn't gravity be doing something?
Of course there's a figure of Rodimus as some kind of animal girl. Why would I be surprised by this?

So how does this work, exactly? Minecraft's thing is that its blocks are actually supposed to be made of stuff: dirt, stone... But a brown Lego piece is just a brown Lego piece and a gray Lego piece is just a gray Lego piece, and the real issue is getting the shapes you want, because holy Notch on a cracker are there a lot of them at this point. How does this game craft (as it were) a Minecraft-y experience around that fundamental difference?
