In all this time I never considered Krok being jealous of Skullcruncher was a gag about their beast forms.

Decided to stick with the main cast from 2007 and a few assorted ones here and there.

@  Rycochet : (22 November 2020 - 11:50 AM)

I can't imagine a live action movie version of Windblade being all that different from Drift. Not my thing, but not the worst thing I've ever seen.

@  Bass X0 : (22 November 2020 - 09:54 AM)

The thought of Movie aesthetic Windblade makes me feel sick.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (22 November 2020 - 08:47 AM)

Though, the fact that Japanese people would pay for Windblade toys in the $30-40 range doesn't mean they'd pay however much MPs are going for now.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (22 November 2020 - 08:44 AM)

Back when I made a habit of checking Mandarake for pre-owned TFs, Windblade's toys went for surprisingly high prices. By which I mean not lower than the original price.

@  Maximus Ambus : (22 November 2020 - 08:15 AM)

If she's in the next movie you might get her.

@  unluckiness : (22 November 2020 - 07:58 AM)

Japan didn't get most of the IDW comics and are the target market for MP. They basically know windblade from a few crappy pack-in comics and a show that wasn't particularly popular there. Unless they start cranking out Cyberverse MPs, it's not very likely.

@  TheMightyMol... : (22 November 2020 - 04:24 AM)

Again, depends if she's popular enough in Japan to warrant it. Our view of which characters are popular is not the same as Takara's.

@  Bass X0 : (22 November 2020 - 01:53 AM)

So characters like Windblade then.

@  TheMightyMol... : (21 November 2020 - 07:19 PM)

They're complicated and expensive to design. By necessity, they're gonna be restricted to well-known characters who are more likely to sell.

@  Bass X0 : (21 November 2020 - 07:05 PM)

I don’t think Masterpiece toys should be restricted to only show characters.

@  Rycochet : (21 November 2020 - 03:09 PM)

If she wasn't in the Sunbow cartoon, Live Action movie or Beast Wars and can't be repainted from someone else, she's not getting an MP.

@  wonko the sane? : (21 November 2020 - 12:44 PM)

They'll make their money back if they include the metal thong...

@  TheMightyMol... : (21 November 2020 - 12:29 PM)

Is she popular enough in Japan that Takara would even try?

@  Paladin : (21 November 2020 - 11:23 AM)

depends. will that one also have a giant metal thong?

@  Bass X0 : (21 November 2020 - 11:10 AM)

Should there be a Masterpiece Windblade?

@  -LittleAutob... : (20 November 2020 - 12:46 PM)

EIGHT WORDS! THATS A RECORD! XD

@  wonko the sane? : (20 November 2020 - 09:08 AM)

I swear though.. The idea of "Catch up" is stupid.

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 November 2020 - 11:25 PM)

That's irritating, but it sounds par for the course with new hardware release. Within a year, there'll probably be some good stuff out there that does it all.

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (14 November 2020 - 11:23 PM)

4K/HDR switches are.. iffy.. Because most of them can't do 4K and HDR at the same time.. Or can't do 120hz... and all sorts of things the new TVs have built in, and the new consoles use...

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 November 2020 - 11:18 PM)

Maybe now that the PS5's made the whole 4K thing a little more mainstream, the hardware will start becoming more common. I know that's one of the hopes the physical media community has for the 100GB discs the PS5 is going to be using. Prior to this, they were very expensive tor replicate compared to a regular blu-ray and not used very often

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 November 2020 - 11:17 PM)

Up to now, there really haven't been a whole lot of 4K disc players to choose from... Samsung stopped making them altogether when they couldn't compete with the others, so your main choices are a few models of Panasonic or Sony

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 November 2020 - 11:14 PM)

Is there no such thing as a 4K/HDR switch yet?

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (14 November 2020 - 10:10 PM)

Which is fine.. But that still doesn't explain why they arn't putting out up to date HDMI switch boxes to get.. more money.

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 November 2020 - 09:59 PM)

My only TV with a respectable number of ports is my OLED 4K/3D, which has 4 HDMI, 2 USB 2.0s, 1 USB 3.0 and some weird proprietary thing that acts as both component and composite, depending on what you need. But it retailed for $10k when it first came out (I bought it 14 months later for less than half that). THey're going to get as many corners on less expensive sets as they can, which usually means only providing 2 HDMIs.

@  TM2-Megatron : (14 November 2020 - 09:55 PM)

I mean, there are some decent ones for under a grand. But yeah, I imagine that's what they're thinking. Most people I know, unless they're film or A/V aficionados, all they've got hooked up to their TV is a digital cable receiver and perhaps a game console and dated DVD player

Remember.. The "SWITCH PRO IS COMING THIS YEAR!!! WE SWEAR!" has been around since before the switch was even launched.

Hell, there was information about another Switch revision and everybody, again, jumped on "4K SWITCH OMFGWTFBBQ!".

I think there will be SOMETHING to refresh the series next year, but I also don't think the current Tegra tech is capable of putting to the resolution that people are extrapolating from these rumors.

While I do think there's a lot of wishful thinking going on brought on by Xbox X and PS5, Nintendo have in the past done their handhelds as standard, then improved and then enhanced (DS > DS Lite > DSi, 3DS > 3DS XL > New 3DS).

I want to know how Nintendo thinks games designed to look good in 4K could possibly fit on those dinky cards OR the built-in storage. Forward compatibility is a nice thought, but we've already got games shipping with almost no data on the card and requiring 50GB downloads. Can we please save the even bigger ones until there is also an even bigger system for them to run on?

They can stuff at least 64gb of data onto the switch cartridges.  I'm not sure how much those chips would cost to manufacture,

though.   Frankly, though, you don't need that much space to  make a 4k game.  You just need that much space to do a 4k game with high-res textures and tons of audio.

For reference, a PS4 Blu-Ray can hold up to 50GB. These aren't the days where N64 cartridges held less than a tenth of what a CD could. The Switch cartridges may be physically tiny, but they're much denser than Blu-Rays. The only remaining issue right now with using cartridges over discs is the cost.

Same pretty much goes for the Switch's use of SD cards over the other consoles' using HDDs. You can buy a 1TB SD card, the same as what Sony packs in with a PS4 Pro, and the Switch can support up to twice that amount. You just have to pay way more than you would for a comparably sized HDD.

I realize 64GB cartridges are currently the max, but if Nintendo could manage to double that again to 128GB, they'd be more than ready to take on the PS5 with its 100GB triple-layer UHD blu-ray media.

The only reason games are getting that big are the graphics quality. I dunno about you guys, but I mostly play my switch in portable mode, so... graphics aren't exactly a high priority. They could keep the size of the cards small for another year or two if they buck the trend for the mostly unnecessary 4K resolutions.

Not to mention the tech that is talked about being used, not that I believe this 8n the slightest, no 4k switch revision next year, is AI upscaleing wich would not require 4k textures.

Some of the expectations are ridiculous: 4K portable screen, 4K 'Power Dock',

I'm just expecting a revision to have a upgrade comparable to DSi and New 3DS and retain the 720p screen but this boost will allow Nintendo and possibly other developers to update their games to be 720p rather then sub HD in portable mode and it may have a few exclusives like Doom Eternal and Capcoms REengine games.

So could an upgrade just be in the form of a power dock instead of a new portable? Basically expand the docks told to become a second processor like the PSVR has?

I use mine like a console...but I've rarely been on the "cutting edge".  Even the PS4 in 2015 was lagging behind what PCs were capable of doing at the same time.  As mentioned by Silverclaw, using AI upscaling and other tricks would allow decent 4K visuals without the burden of 4K data.  My inclination is that whatever we get as far as an upgrade to justify Nintendo's "4K" comment to developers might be more related to making a new "operating profile".  Switch games already have "docked" and "undocked" profiles, any upgrade could simply require a "performance" profile to get the most out of the increased headroom.  We've also seen this generation the option of 4K data on some games, so maybe it will be a user's choice whether or not to use those high data assets.

So could an upgrade just be in the form of a power dock instead of a new portable? Basically expand the docks told to become a second processor like the PSVR has?

That's the option I would like. But I think it's unlikely given the history of add ons in the gaming industry.  I also don't feel a "power dock" would offer enough of an upgrade to justify the price.  To get a major improvement, you'd almost need another console worth of tech in it.  They COULD do a supplementary image processor to upscale to 4K, but again, I'm not sure that would offer a compelling improvement given the state of assets in a given Switch game.

I'm personally betting if we get a "Switch Pro" it will be a backwards compatible update with a new SoC, again, something akin to the 3DS upgrade.  Nvidia has the Xavier SoC which is designed to "decode 8K video" and has paper specs of about 1.4 Tflops, which would put it in the same ball park as the base PS4 or Xbox One.  That would put it about twice as powerful as the current Switch, and the cost should come down for mass production (the Switch launched in 2017 with the Tegra X1, a 2015 chip).

So, not as exciting as I thought for the Partner Direct Mini.  A majority of the games are looks at 2021 games, but what was shown was pretty solid.

But hey, Ori and the Will of the Wisps drops today! As does the Switch version of Supergiant's Hades. Sniper Elite 4 is rolling out this holiday as well.

2021 already has some solid support for RPG fans, further cementing the Switch's position as a Vita successor for many people.  Rune Factory 5, Disgaea 6, and if you like Monster Hunter? The Switch is your machine.

I think Bakugan is really interesting because of the exposure Nintendo is giving it and it's being developed by WayForward.  And for Wayforward, this type of game is kind of outside their usual wheelhouse.

The biggest thing they talked about was the release of Control and Hitman as cloud streaming titles.  We saw it with RE7 and AC Odyssey in Japan, but it's the first time we're seeing this sort of thing in the US market.  If successful, this could be a huge game changer for the platform.  But experiences like this aren't a good indicator:
