And with 3D World on Switch, my last reason to keep my Wii-U fades away.
I'm not sure I understand the purpose of all this limited-time jazz with 3D All-Stars, though.

This 3D All stars makes me think on the next Nintendo system we may see an attempt to make Super Mario Maker 3D featuring Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Odyssey themes with a Super Mario sunshine expansion.
Swing your arms from side to side....
No way, I don't want to be seen flailing my arms looking like an idiot with that stupid Wii! I'm going back to my Eyetoy and Kinect!

To be honest, I'm more disappointed that they aren't included the expanded content from Super Mario 64 DS. Improved textures, more characters, more levels, it's a bit disappointing not to have that content be available with the 3D All Stars improvements. I also got to agree on Galaxy 2, especially charging $60 for the release (that's $20 for slightly improved iterations of games 10-20 years old). I'm tempted by a retail preorder just because of the likely limited quantities, but it feels like Nintendo is fleecing us a bit. Well, more than usual.
That said, I think the most interesting stuff is the side merchandise being made. Mario Kart AR looks REALLY fascinating, and the Game & Watch device is quite novel, we'll see how expensive that is.

I'm kinda wondering if they'll have Galaxy 2 as paid DLC down the line. I could see them doing that.
Or, hey, a second All-Star "Spin-off" collection, maybe for closer to Christmas. Galaxy 2, 6 Golden Coins, amd 3D Land could make a pretty decent second volume. It'd be kinda like the old Sonic Gems Collection, where one game is CLEARLY the headliner, but it'd still be kinda neat. (Admittedly, 3D Land would probably be the hardest to port...Thousand Year Door would make a decent replacement, but it'd be kind of "off topic", not being a platformer...maybe Super Paper Mario? Mind you, as long as they're doing collections, they really should just do a Paper Mario Trilogy collection.)

I'm psyched for 3-D All-Stars. It might be an unpopular opinion, but Super Mario Sunshine is one of my favourite 3-D Mario games, probably only behind Galaxy. I still routinely boot up my Gamecube in order to play it; a very underrated system.
I'd always hoped for a 3DS port of Sunshine, as it seemed to be the next in line for a portable version (all the NES, SNES and N64 main Mario titles have had handheld ports, so Sunshine seemed the next logical choice). This is good too, though; can't wait to see it in HD.

Same, not buying sunshine was one of my 'gaming regrets' and I never could get a good emulator copy. As previously mentioned I do kind of wish the Mario 64 came with the extras from the 3DS version.

I really liked Sunshine, a lot more than Galaxy -- expect for those levels where they take away the FLUDD. Using the water jets to pull off all kinds of crazy maneuvers is a lot of fun. Why does the game insist on taking that away so often?
Don't need to rebuy Sunshine or Galaxy, but my old 64 doesn't seem to want to read the Super Mario 64 cartridge anymore, and my DS remake appears to have gone missing, so I might just end up getting 3d All-Stars anyways.

I liked the FLUDD-less levels, but only as a change of pace. They worked because there were only a small amount of them, and Mario still had meaty gameplay even without FLUDD.
Given that there's now been a fair amount of 3D Mario games, they don't have the same novelty. Heck, they probably wouldn't have had the same novelty if I'd played Super Mario 64 before playing Sunshine.

Just pre-ordered my physical copy from best buy. It was going to cost me 90 bucks regardless of how I bought it, so I want the hugging plastic!

Just did the same last night. I'll always choose physical over download, but especially for releases like this.

I have absolutely no preference either way, really. But considering the complete and utter lack in incentive to go digital, and the almost ridiculous cost: I want the plastic. I want the jewel case to put on a shelf (oh... I actually can now... hmmm.), I want to be disappointed by the inclusion of the clips to HOLD the game manual and the complete lack of game manual.
In short, I'm paying almost 100 bucks, let's have the whole game buying experience.

'4K ready' so does this mean we'll see titles in 1440p or 1600p resolutions?
