@  Kalidor : (16 July 2019 - 12:56 PM)

And lastly, if it becomes too much hassle to deal with - it might just get sent into the cornfield and replaced with a Discord box anyway. So cool it.

@  Kalidor : (16 July 2019 - 12:55 PM)

Second thing is we do actually have the ability to ban users specifically from using Shoutbox if it's being abused like that

@  Kalidor : (16 July 2019 - 12:55 PM)

Hey all - just a reminder and heads up. The Shoutbox has been kept here as a courtesy because it's what you folks like in lieu of Discord - but a few things to remember is that P&R should stay in P&R and isn't really something that needs to be dragged out here in the most public of spaces.

@  Nevermore : (16 July 2019 - 11:04 AM)

Done.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 July 2019 - 10:25 AM)

You can make a new one. I doubt anybody would stop you.

@  Nevermore : (16 July 2019 - 10:16 AM)

There was a thread but it appears to have disappeared. Might have been lost in one of the older forum sweeps.

@  NotVeryKnightly : (16 July 2019 - 09:58 AM)

Yeah this is pretty much circumventing the fact that we have different rules for political talk.

@  fourteenwings : (16 July 2019 - 09:55 AM)

Okay, so, basically, can we not do politics in here anymore? I mean, considering how often @Nevermore, you talk about your work conditions, don't you think it's time for a dedicated thread in P&R?

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 09:39 AM)

Scratch that; that's insulting to honest salads. Whatever that was was the text equivalent of hamburger.

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 09:38 AM)

Would you like some dressing to go with your word salad?

@  Paladin : (16 July 2019 - 09:34 AM)

yes; it now goes "shit piss hug *BLEEP* ^$@^ motherhuger **** turd fart encyclopedia & Socialism."

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 09:24 AM)

This is an American site, but isn't that unnecessarily severe language? IIRC it's one of the top four offensive pejoratives to English people

@  SHIELD Agent 47 : (16 July 2019 - 08:52 AM)

It's amusing how so many (U.S.) wankers in this world love to whine "capitalism good socialism bad!" in the abstract while simultaneously pretending that megacorporations dominating de facto monopolies is anathema to the core capitalistic principle of competition benefits everyone.

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 05:17 AM)

I know Shockwave's super mode is pretty lame and Magnus is kinda greebly but it's not that bad.

@  TM2-Megatron : (16 July 2019 - 12:38 AM)

Though with the luck and caliber of leaders we've had of late in the darkest timeline, maybe it's too much to hope for.

@  TM2-Megatron : (16 July 2019 - 12:36 AM)

Just like democracy, it's not perfect but better than the present alternatives. Capitalism as it's practiced today won't be able to weather the coming wave of automation, though. Best to plan for it and hope for a gentle transition rather than the aforementioned collapse

@  unluckiness : (16 July 2019 - 12:27 AM)

Capitalism is the worst amiright? Sent from my iPhone

@  Vexwing : (15 July 2019 - 11:24 PM)

Because the collapse is gonna be just great.

@  TM2-Megatron : (15 July 2019 - 10:41 PM)

Let's hope this is late stage and we're on the cusp of something better.

@  abates : (15 July 2019 - 09:45 PM)

Late stage capitalism is the absolute best.

So, welcome to all retail, everywhere.

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 01:24 PM)

Oh, and Greenpeace also conducted a protest at a German Amazon facility, to protest against Amazon's practice of throwing customer returns in the trash.

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 01:17 PM)

Right, because with Amazon, it's just the employees that have to step in dog shit while having no space to breathe.[/slightexaggeration]

@  Tm_Silverclaw : (15 July 2019 - 01:03 PM)

At least I can use Amazon without losing the ability to breath or step in dog shit.

@  RichardT1977 : (15 July 2019 - 12:58 PM)

Considering that Amazon is the new Walmart...

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 12:39 PM)

All of my best wishes go out to the brave women and men who have the balls (and ovaries) to go on strike at an Amazon facility in the US.

@  Nevermore : (15 July 2019 - 12:38 PM)

Speaking of. Not only are we in Germany on strike today, but so is the fulfillment center in Shakopee, Minnesota!

@  TheMightyMol... : (15 July 2019 - 12:36 PM)

Overnight delivery is the right of all sentient beings.

@  RichardT1977 : (15 July 2019 - 12:34 PM)

(and is it sexist of me to assume that a character named "Amazon Prime" would be feminine?)

@  RichardT1977 : (15 July 2019 - 12:34 PM)

Holy frijoles!

This is the sort of work I feel we missed last month from Roberts. Those three pages alone blew my mind with the world-building.

There's something so chilling about a giant billboard saying "EVERYTHING IS FINE". Not that "TAKE PRIDE IN BEING A MEANS TO AN END" is any better.

Cameo count! Wing Saber, Jetfire, Hot Shot, Cyclonus, Demolishor, Snowcat, Bulkhead, Beachcomber, Tow-Line, Blurr, Sparkplug, Crumplezone, Hoist and Ultra Magnus. And outside the UT, I'm fairly certain that's Pharma (and Ratchet?) on the balcony next to Jetfire.

So if I got the timeline right, this is during or sometime after the Interregnum, depending on how that period is measured.

-Disappearance of the Ark

-Interregnum: Delta Magnus of the Primal Vanguard carries the Matrix

-Rise of the Functionist Council: Absolute corruption, PV disbanded, Senate unseated

-Rise of the Senate: Nominus Prime and the Illusion of Progress (Chaos Theory era)

Which two million years was Minimus Ambus away? I thought Nova Prime's departure was six million years ago and the Chaos Theory era was four million years ago. Seems like the era of the Functionist Council didn't last long enough for Minimus to come and go during their reign. I guess it depends on the details of the "Reconciliation" and whether the change from the Old calendar to the New calendar affects this.

They "Gave away Luna 2"? It that supposed to mean they just gave mining or property rights to the Black Box Consortia, or is this an error and they meant Luna ONE was literally given away, as in no longer orbiting Cybertron as of this deal?

They outlawed the Intellectual Class? They actually outlawed thinking?! 1984 would love this. "Mass recall"? I'll take ominous terminology for 600, Alex.

Just...wow, all around. What a wonderful three pages.

Yeah, I can only assume that these MTMTE pages are set before "Chaos Theory"/"Shadowplay", given that by "Shadowplay" Prowl's hometown following hyper-strict Functionism was unusual.

Presumably this is roughly contemporary with #14's prologue, 4.2 million years ago? That was the last time we saw a Functionist Authenticator, who are showing up in this storyline if the covers are anything to go by.

There is some reasonable speculation that the reason this is relatively hard to fit into the timeline we know is because it's an alternate one, caused by Brainstorm last issue.

I suppose. Other than a few minor quibbles dating the scene, though, it doesn't really contradict anything we already know. And Brainstorm's arrival last issue appeared to be post-Chaos Theory, after the Functionist Council lost power and the Senate was on the rise. If he somehow interfered with Megatron's rise, then you'd think the SENATE would be in charge in an "alternate timeline", not a return to Functionist doctrine so strong it "unseated the Senate".

Okay, I'm confused. Relatively recently, links to the individual pages were removed on the pretense that we were to respect iTunes' exclusivity on these previews. Now Allspark's news staff is posting articles and hosting the individual pages. Can we get a consistent ruling on this?

Maybe if iTunes wants it respected they should make it so you can actually read the freaking things. I gave up on the last two pages loading and read them at the TFW2005 boards.

Robert is made to withstand plenty of play, and transforms from car to robot! Go, Robert, go!

Why will we solve after Robert grasps the abysmal winter's ulcer? He may change rural tailors, do you join them? The films, tapes, and spoons are all good and fresh.

Out of these three issues, his tells the least story in three pages. And also Drift's inner monologue reminds me of the stuff from bad 90s comics...

Not necessarily... Megatron's writings were still out there.

And we're assuming what his ripple effect would have been was to take out Megatron. I can't help but think that taking out Orion Pax would ALSO have massive effects, given that Zeta would have then been able to carry out his plans to genocide the residents of Nyon, for one.

That said, if it is an alternate timeline (which I'm speculating but not married to as an idea) there's still 4 million years for the Functionist council to eventually just overthrow the Senate as a result of the societal outrage at their growing excesses/corruption.

From his whole "I wouldn't read something I wasn't enjoying either" remark way back when and his dislike of Roberts' "goofy hippie" Drift, I think it's safe to say McCarthy doesn't think he NEEDS to improve. Guy doesn't have any respect for anybody else's writing. He also bashed the movies, so I'm betting he's a GEEWUN writing his own fanfic based on how "epic" the cartoon was.
