Creative, but hideous. Feels like it completely misses the point of the Kreons and a building block line in general.

seems these ones actually transform without having to remove too much pieces

Yup, Luke said that. But in different words
Feels like it completely misses the point of the Kreons and a building block line in general.

They're really not for me.
Regular Kreons are plastic gold, but not these.
The gold part probably has some relevance thanks to the prices on the SDCC set.

Though it's AOE-inspired, Grimlock being gold instead of silver reminds me of when Megstron was gold instead of silver in those early G1 comics from Marvel UK.

The more I look at these, the less they make sense to me. Aren't these encroaching on the territory that Constructbots was supposed to occupy?
To my understanding, Kre-O was about building sets, rebuilding between modes, and little Kreon minifigures. All of this stacks them up against "standard" Lego. Constructbots are about building interchangeable action figures which transform. This stacks them up against Hero Factory, Bionicle, etc.
So now Kre-O has buildable action figures which transform. This would seem to de-emphasize one of the core strengths of the Kre-O brand AND diminish the uniqueness of Constructbots, which was already a bit questionable due to Mashers.

I miss the actual robot and vehicle builds from the first two years of the line. I know the vocal majority have come down firmly on the side of "all I care about is Kreons", and Hasbro's direction has responded to it, but they weren't my favorite part.

Only really considering Starscream so I can have a better looking kreon.

As big a Kre-O fan as I am... these do nothing for me outside of one or two specialty pieces. They lack all the charm of the Kreons, the altmodes are really awkward-looking, and topping it off they're all characters I'm kinda tired of seeing new versions of.
