I might need to update my software, or they face regional limitations, cause I found no evidence of either.

DUDE! Starcom and COPS are on Tubi too!

@  Steevy Maximus : (20 February 2020 - 09:29 PM)

Spiffy! The english dub of Bubblegum Crisis on Tubi. It's gotten so hard to find these oldies on modern streaming services.

Oh boy, here we go.

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:34 PM)

Or do Japan's cultural values vary depending on exactly who you're trying to shut down?

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:33 PM)

Could it be that, perhaps, these different cultural values might lead to a different approach seeming appropriate?

@  ▲ndrusi : (19 February 2020 - 02:32 PM)

Hm. Back when we were arguing about the Legends comic, I seem to recall being repeatedly told that Japan had different cultural values than the US (and therefore anyone who had a problem with anything at all was wrong to voice that opinion ever).

@  fourteenwings : (19 February 2020 - 07:23 AM)

Plus, as much as I hate to admit it, every single anime character is built to suit the audience's tastes so they buy more merch/do other things that allow $$$ to flow in the production committees direction, so the authenticity is certainly not for representation's sake.

@  fourteenwings : (19 February 2020 - 07:18 AM)

Both those anime air at midnight and are aimed at a very specific audience in a whole other media landscape. Major projects have press releases about almost everything, and there are groups just waiting to pat anybody on the back for doing what they want (GLAAD, HRC, etc)

@  B-Fox : (19 February 2020 - 03:16 AM)

It's funny that a friggin' anime about zombie idols and an anime about a school of anthropomorphic animals can have really positive trans characters WITHOUT a press release about their inclusion in the series prior to the episodes airing or having the creators announcing it on social media and patting themselves on the back for doing a thing.

Vegans are better than kids if you don't talk to them. They'll keep the lawn trimmed anyway.

@  TheMightyMol... : (18 February 2020 - 06:02 PM)

Do you want vegans? Because that's how you get vegans.

@  CORVUS : (18 February 2020 - 04:33 PM)

Hook up your sprinkler system to a canister of healthy organic carrot-juice. The kids won't be able to get off your lawn fast enough.

@  TheMightyMol... : (16 February 2020 - 05:17 PM)

Or there's just conveniently no reception, or all of their phones are dead at the same time. Or they're just stupid and forget about them.

Now the slasher villain has to go and knock over the nearest cell tower before butchering horny teenagers.

@  TheMightyMol... : (16 February 2020 - 03:54 PM)

Think of all the horror and mystery movies that involve the bad guys cutting the phone line. Now think about how many people don't even have a land line to cut anymore.

@  Telly : (16 February 2020 - 03:47 PM)

its like that scene in commando. the bad guy has to get to a phone to call the big bad to tell him arnold isnt on the plane. that wouldnt happen today

He'd make a good Captain Marvel. But he'd make a better Black Adam.

I still wanna see Patrick Warburton as the big red cheese, while he's still young enough for Hollywood.

Rock strikes me as the perfect guy to play a little kid in a Superman body. A big, goofy smile looks a lot more natural on that face than an arrogant sneer or scream of rage.

Okay, yeah.. I can see that. Though Warburton as mentioned earlier is also really good for 'big goof with child-like wonderment' I mean, just look as someone like Kronk as an example.

I mean, Rock would play a good 2010s kid in a superhuman body (cynical, playing at being badass), while Warburton would play a great 1930s kid in a superhuman body (idealistic, playing at being heroic). It depends on where you want to go with the character.

Sadly, a ten year old who acts like Billy Batson is no longer realistic.

That dynamic would not be bad for a new Captain Marvel/Black Adam face-off.

Wouldn't there be some backlash for DC using an actor with African-American heritage into a character named BLACK Adam?

There shouldn't. Especially since Black Manta and Black Lightning already exist.

Depends what you mean by backlash. Movie reviewers on Youtube will make fun of it, sure, but I think that's about the extent of it.

At face value, I wouldn't pick Johnson to be Captain Marvel.  By all accounts, he is a sweetheart, but there's always that hint of bad boy attitude to him, and Captain Marvel should be pure childlike innocence.  He'd be an incredible Black Adam though.

I have larger concerns about WB doing a Shazam movie though.  The first being that everything we've seen of their cinematic universe so far is very dark, gritty, and "real", NONE of which is appropriate for this character.  The second is that I really don't want them to use the new Geoff Johns version, who I found too obnoxious to root for.

They've got a shot as long as Goyer and Snyder aren't involved.

"Well, we had a halfway decent Captain Marvel movie all plotted out, and then I  told Zack, 'Y'know what I just realized? Billy really needs to kill Black Adam'."

I actually think a cinematic movie might protect him from this. People will be less inclined to watch a character who is literally a child roll up and kill dudes.

Depends when you came to comics. In the 90s Lobo certainly was. In a part of the 30s/40s though Capt. was higher tier than Superman.

-ZacWilliam, which is why DC effectively sued him out of existance.

Seriously.

He's a PERFECT Black Adam so why is he playing Captain Marvel.

He's not..at least not yet.  He could be headlining a Shazam move as Adam...or he could be playing Johnny Thunder and the word is "cei u". Nothing has been announced yet so save your comment til later in the week.

Rock strikes me as the perfect guy to play a little kid in a Superman body. A big, goofy smile looks a lot more natural on that face than an arrogant sneer or scream of rage.

But CM is only sometimes treated as "little kid in Superman body"...that was more Prime's thing...CM has the whole Wisdom of Solomon, so they don't always do Golly gee whiz with him.

Is it weird that 9 times out of 10 when I hear "Captain Marvel" I think of Carol Danvers first? Even in a DC context,

As a Disney Stockholder, I thank you.
