A recent thread on 2005 asked "what were the rarest Transformer toys that were ever actually released to consumers?" Meaning, no truly unreleased toys and no contest prize / Lucky Draw figures. Someone, somewhere, walked into a store and walked out with the product.

Some of the suggested answers were reasonable (ATB Megatron, Animated Nemesis Prime, G2 Breakdown), a lot weren't (Legacy Cosmos). But it looks like nobody had even heard of what might have been the real answer:

The White Headmaster Warriors were made available as free-gift-with-your-purchase items in some unknown store(s) in Japan briefly in 1987. I joined the online fandom about 10 years after that and there were a few people mentioning how impossible it had been to get them. I saw White Loafer at Botcon '00 and people were making a huge fuss about it there. The TF: Generations guidebook has a picture only of White Shuffler. The same set of five has alternately been owned by Arkvander (Transformers Redux) and Heroic-Decepticon.

Does anyone here own one - and more importantly, is anyone known to have a full set of 6?

Sadly, half of the ones that were picked up have probably been broken/thrown away over the years as you average consumer probably would never have even known how rare they were.

I’ve never even seen pictures of them, though I’ve known they have existed for a long time. Would love to see them.

Actually, he did own them. He later sold them to this guy:

Arkvander and H-D owned the same set of 5 at different times - and that same set now has a third owner, who at last has all 6. This is the level of rarity we are talking about.

Somehow seeing those pictures makes them less…what’s the word…cool? I mean yeah I’ve read all white but I guess I didn’t take that literally, thinking there would be some other color (don’t ask me why).

Having seen them, all I thought was “huh.”

Thanks for being better at Google than me.
