If they did the bans as outlined in their terms of service, then everyone would have been better off.

Still a year ago though.

Okay, so... just recently Beau of the Fifth posted a video on what Canada needs to do should the US erupt into civil war. I did listen to it, and the dude always takes a nice, appreciable humanitarian bent on his actions.

Beau is also usually RIGHT when he predicts stuff. And while his predictions might be right, his checklist of actions for us (canada.) is dead wrong.

The day after the most prescient of americans decide it's time to hit the border lines, we need to lock down the border HARD. Absolutely nothing that isn't commercial goes through. For the simple reason that regardless of how a civil war plays out: a large portion of the US population will decide they don't want this and run. If even a third of the US decides to play the "conscientious objector" card and run north: we've got TWICE our population (Despite being made of refugees and asylum seekers, it would be a conquering army in it's own right.) wanting a couch to sleep on and a few cold beer to pass the time.

Under the best of circumstances: canada couldn't afford that. We certainly can't after the damage caused by the pandemic and we certainly won't be able to afford it after the US civil war 2 destroys our economy.

Sorry guys: but if the bullets start flying in an internal ideological conflict; canada needs to be closed to you. And I can quarantee that mexico will do this even if we don't.

If a so called, 'civil war' happens it'll last less than a week. Even if they get some military support, they won't have military weaponry. Not happening. At best we'll get part of the military that refuses to fight on either side, but they won't support an insurrection in enough numbers or hardware to do any good.

War'd be off in short order the minute cell/Internet service was disrupted. Or the minute the Gravy Seals discovered the local McDs closed up and boarded and where the hell are they supposed to get their Nuggies and Mountain Dew for the Freedum War?

Anyone seriously considering the US devolving into Civil War is giving the majority of our population way too much credit. The people in charge might be looking to Orwell for the playbook, but Huxley already had the future pegged.

One thing that seldom gets mentioned is how the international community will react if it looks like the US government is about to collapse from civil war. Do they really want to see our nuclear arsenal controlled by a fascist dictatorship? Russia might, but who else would benefit?

Not sure if Russia would, either. Depends on who said fascist dictator is

Desantis juts wants the title because it'll make him look good. Trump wanted the title because his life was catching up with him and it meant ending his life in prison and poverty if he was caught.

On Wednesday, during an Indiana state Senate committee hearing about a proposed bill that would ban “divisive concepts” in school classrooms, Republican Sen. Scott Baldwin said teachers’ lessons about fascism and Nazism should be impartial.

“Marxism, Nazism, fascism … I have no problem with the education system providing instruction on the existence of those ‘isms,’ ” said Baldwin, who co-wrote the bill. “I believe that we’ve gone too far when we take a position. … We need to be impartial.”

The full text of the bill is even worse.
