Well yeah, if the popular vote decided things instead of gerrymandered districts, the far right would never have a chance. Fairness is their enemy.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Part of it is literally that, and it's the subtext to his statement. But the permission to say it is that he's probably one of those "But we're a constitutional republic" assholes and doesn't seem to understand how the english language works.

Which, again, is probably because he doesn't speak english, he speaks 'murican.

This is the same party that constantly focuses on the 'republic' part and ignores the 'democratic' part and conveniently forgets that back in the day the two terms were used interchangeably. Can't say I'm surprised.

So, if I am to believe him... transitioning to another sex would give me super powers?

Can anyone confirm quickly please? Also: do we get to choose the powers, or are they random?

Looks like he's specifically referring to Nightcrawler(what with the demons and imps thing). I haven't manifested any teleportation powers as of yet, but I'm not on HRT, so maybe you can only do that once you start it.

Looks like he missed the point of the X-Men that mutants are still human no matter what they look like or how they live..

Which is pretty telling to what he thinks trans and gay folks are. He doesn't consider them human, much less citizens.

To them 'X-Men' has always been a 'woke' comic book series. It's been an allegory on the treatment of minorities since its inception after all.

The whole point of the X-Men was a story about discrimination and prejudice and how we should strive to be better and rise above hating people just for being different. So, once again, there's a point to be made, it's just completely and totally not the one the GOP thinks.

Yeah, we'll see how that ends up going, since they'd need a constitutional amendment to accomplish that little stunt. The Missouri state constitution explicitly states that the general assembly "shall grant aid to such public libraries." Not can, not should, but SHALL. And there are people within the state senate who have stated that this attempt to defund state libraries will not stand.

Regardless, this is yet another example of how far down the authoritarian rabbit-hole the GQP have crawled.

FB friend:
Republicans are basically best understood as malicious hackers trying to find exploits in a game called Government (beta version 0.96).

Look at how they're flooding the system with horrible bills attacking women and drag queens and minorities and transgenders, even though those bills do precisely nothing to make their constituents' lives better. They're forcing the Democrats to spend all their time fighting back against this tidal wave of hatemongering, so they will have less time to actually do normal government things. It's basically the governmental version of a Denial of Service attack.

They don't even care how successful any of these initiatives are. They just want to cause problems for what they see as the progressive agenda. Even if they know a judge will probably overrule it someday, they know it will waste a lot of time and traumatize a lot of people, thus forcing the other side into damage control mode.

Similarly, what do you think all their gerrymandering and vote suppression is? They're literally finding exploits in the code. They're like the trollish little shits who find exploits in games so they can cheat and kill other players in a grossly unsportsmanlike fashion. The big difference is that it's a lot harder to fix exploits in a constitution than a game.

Stealing a Supreme Court judge from Obama? That's an exploit. Stacking the judiciary with hand-picked politically motivated operatives and thus defeating its purpose as an independent branch of government? That's an exploit. Finding ways to force the entire nation to obey the edicts of one judge in an obscure court in Texas? Another exploit.

Twisting freedom of expression so that religious fanatics in key positions can essentially force their opinions on the rest of us in the name of their personal liberty? Yet another exploit. Using "parents' rights" to allow one small group of parents to dictate what every other parents' children are allowed to learn in school? Yet another goddamned exploit. Hell, that's what Jan 6 was: they thought they found the ultimate exploit.

That's what the GOP is: a cabal of the sort of unsportsmanlike scum that ruin online games, except that this game is the government.
