I was rather surprised going out tonight to see Spiderverse, and stopped at both a Target and Walmart to find Battlemaster Primal and Battle Changer Mirage. And Core Rhinox at Walmart.
Can’t help but wonder if the shipper displays at Walmart for the Weaponizers and Combiners might not be an issue later on, in terms of new product arrival.

Core Rhinox is pretty incredible. I wish we would be getting an entire series with these designs. Obviously I'd love for them to have more color. Was really considering doing some customizing, paint wise, but now I'm leaning toward leaving them allone for the novelty.

The grey one, with a few colours added, could be Rhino, or any number of other iterations of Rhinox.

With the horns on his shoulder, the brown one could almost-kinda-sorta work as Backstop.
That McDonalds one is a winner. Those toys need more recognition today. They were great.
Yeah. Beast Alliance and Core were built around earlier design work when they were planned for release last year without Studio Series support.
Studio Series are based on more final designs. But even then, it feels like Optimus Primal and Mirage got bumped back to allow some 11th hour tweaking that seems to have occurred on the movie side as well.

So hey, now there are two Transformers movies I wouldn't be embarrassed to recommend!
No spoilers.
Bumblebee is certainly the better movie, and this one is never really not dumb. But, it's the kind of dumb that Transformers movies probably always should have been, instead of the gross offensive incomprehensible cynical careless kind of dumb from the Michael Bay movies. The dialogue pretty much exists just to move the plot along, but it's not racist, there's no leering over teenage girls, and at no point will you feel embarrassed to be watching it.
There are more identifiable robots in this movie than any other. Robots talk to each other, robots punch each other, robots show emotion and mild character growth. You can tell them apart visually and they have traces of personality. The action is easy to follow and some of the bigger sequences happen in full daylight.
Overall, it does have the feeling of a Bay story made by someone more competent. Everyone's chasing an ancient macguffin, the fate of the universe is at stake, one young man happens upon a robot car, blah blah blah. It's dumb, but it's fun. It's probably worth your time.
Also, great soundtrack of basically every popular hip-hop song from the early 90s.

This is definitely a sequel to Bumblebee. I don't see how it can work as a prequel to the first Bay movie. Sure leaves you with the idea another sequel is coming, though.
I just went to Lawsons on the 5th to use the Loppi system to get my friend a Nemesis Prime figure, which is on sale from the 1st of June to sometime in August. Apparently it's sold out.
I kinda figured that already, what with Unicron not being Earth and all. Is there more to it than that, though?
