I'd respectfully suggest we avoid comparisons to real world cults, if only because Trump most definitely has been looking at the Jim Jones playbook.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

And he's cribbing notes from "mein kampf", if it's an orange sprayed wannabe dictator: call it an orange sprayed wannabe dictator. And frankly, we'd all be better off if he finally drank the poisoned cool aid, and ascended into the alien space ship hiding in the tail of the comet.

If they do grant it then it exposes them to acctualy being crupt (witch we already knew) and means they would be the ones trying to block real justice and cant relayed on for any judgement going forth

Which pretty much means the end of the current SCOTUS and that's something they don't want.

Ironbite-can't chip away at various minority rights if you're not sitting in the chair.

Literally no one has the authority to remove them from the bench unless you're expecting Biden to hire a hitman. But that also means there's nothing he can to do make it worth their while to give him a pass. Remember the last time he came crying to them and they refused to even hear the case, and all three of the justices he appointed were in agreement on that point even though the rest weren't?

They CAN be removed from office, but it requires an impeachment trial and given the current makeup of congress.....

Look, if SCOTUS bends the knee to Trump here it will be the end of any claim to legitimacy. The calls for reform will drown out everything else.
More to the point, while they may owe him for their place, I only see maybe 2 on the Court who'd be willing to bow to Trump. They're all very proud people who have no repercussions in their life for whatever choice they make. Just because they kissed his ass to get there does not mean they're going to do a damn thing for him now. They answer to a higher power. The Federalist Society.

They don't really answer to anyone; they have no incentive (other than their own scruples, which half of them don't have) to make any decision that isn't what they themselves want.
Unfortunately, the less scrupulous ones want the same things as the Federalist Society.

I can't wait for Thomas to shoot him down, only for Trump to publicly attack him the same way he attacks McConnell.

Clarance Thomas has been asked, in his authority as the Judge representing the 11th Circuit, to intervene. So not the SCOTUS as a whole, just the one guy who shouldn't be on the bench at all.

Ironbite-and if he rules that Trump's entitled to national secretes as an Ex-President.....

Then the DOJ appeals to the full supreme court, where one would hope he gets smacked down despite the current makeup of the court.

It wouldn't so much be an appeal as saying "Hey, you literally don't have the authority to make unilateral rulings on anything, now sit down and shut up before it gets you in more trouble."
