Overall I enjoyed the Picard Season 3 premiere. A couple decent mysteries to start things off. Frakes as Riker is always a delight. The Titan Captain is a singularly unenjoyable asshole.

Very curious about Beverly’s 20 year old Son; after pointedly avoiding everyone for 20 years. Very Carol Marcus of her. I wonder how they’re going to play it. The implication being it’s Picard’s but that so transparently telegraphed it has to be something else right? Kudos to Wesley on getting a half brother in any case

Overall a strong start, but last season had a strong start too so I'm still in wait-and-see mode. If nothing else, at least we're getting plenty of starship porn for once.
In Rafi's search results, there's shots of:
- a Pathfinder-class(from STO) Voyager B - guess the A doesn't last through the events of the next season or two of Prodigy?
- The Odyssey-class Enterprise-F "slated for early decommission" - that makes little sense given it couldn't have replaced the E too long ago... unless it's going to be refitted into the Yorktown class, like the current STO Enterprise F, or the TNG crew pulls a Kirk and steals it and gets it a new lease on life after due to that
- The original Voyager
- The NCC-1500 USS Pioneer, canonizing the class - for referance, if you make a TOS character in STO you start as the XO of a Pioneer class
- The Enterprise A!
- The NCC-2000 Excelsior

Silly. Probably just another "Kurtzman doesn't know things" thing. Isn't he a fan too?
They specifically said the ship was doing a refit and that it was Riker's old ship, even that Captain Shaw had to remove all of Riker's jazz from the computer. Do the producers think that Enterprise-A was a refit of Enterprise?
For now, just enjoy the reunions and the visuals. There will be plenty of time to ask your questions during the awkward middle and also during the rest of your life after the show finishes without answering most of them.
Well, even in the ready room, its called the Titan A.
Here is what I am betting, and how it all makes sense.
Riker commanded the Titan, and at some point, he had to intentionally crash it into something. It got so damaged that it had to be mothballed. So he gets command of the Titan A. Then he has to leave to try to take care of his son. Picard mentions that the Titan A was Riker's old command, so we know he commanded it for some time, and the new captain's snide comments about crashing ships unintentionally or intentionally makes me think that Riker rammed the Luna Class Titan into something, although he could have been talking about them ramming the Scimitar in Nemesis.
I know that they have refitted old ships in the past, like the Original enterprise for the TMP refit, but going from a Luna Class to the Neo-Constitutional class seems like a stretch. Mainly because it doesn't have the same profile or shapes for the Engineering or Saucer sections. I am not saying it isn't plausible that they did that, but I am betting that Riker just commanded both the Titan and the Titan A.
In somewhat random news - Hiya Toys has announced a Star Trek license (though no significant details). I've enjoyed their 1:18 offerings so far - despite being a bit pricey. It'd be cool to have Trek in the same scale as Star Wars and Joes though.
I saw that walmart had Wrath of Khan figures of Khan and Kirk at Christmas, as well as a TOS Enterprise toy that I really should have picked up.
My wife got me the Enterprise for Christmas. It's awesome and well worth the $40. The stand feels a teensy bit flimsy for the weight its supporting, but as long as its somewhere where it won't be bumped and jostled constantly, it should be fine.
Hiya Toys has been doing a nice job with their Aliens, Predator and Robocop licenses. Think expensive, modern GI Joe-style figures. They're a little more fragile, but great sculpts and detail.
Someone has already picked up Eaglemoss' Star Trek license (as well as others sounds like). I got an email from them the other day to confirm I wanted to be on the mailing list - but I forgot who it was.
Yeah, that's Playmates and I haven't seen anyone mention they've lost it. Seems like nowadays, properties hand their toy licenses out to numerous companies.
Yep, “splicensing” as Adam Pawlus (Adam16bit here) has referred to it. Same reason you’re seeing Ninja Turtles from Super7 (toy-inspired Ultimates, Reaction), NECA (media reference “Ultimates”), BST Action, Playmates (retro toys), and, now, McFarlane (Mutant Mayhem kids toys).
In terms of Picard…I like what I saw. I watched bits of the series, but it just could never quite “grab me”. This time? Maybe it’s the visual and audio pandering, but I got pulled in. Ship design is gorgeous, the plot has a nice hook, and the usage of TNG cast members give a lot more weight than the sparse appearances in the prior seasons. The audio was FULL of fun Easter Eggs. In addition to the use of the Goldsmith Star Trek themes, it seemed like there was a LOT of Horner influence during the Titan sequences. Loved to hear the ending credits use the First Contact score as well the transition to the classic Goldsmith TNG music. Speaking of the credit sequence…
My suspicion is that we’ll see some sort of “augment” story arc here. The very start of the episode called back to Wrath of Khan with it’s “In the 25th Century…”, the James Horner music cues, and the ending graphics featured a LOT of stuff dealing with DNA and genetic coding. Makes me think that, regardless of who the new guy’s father is, he’s been genetically modified. We’ve seen in prior series how aggressively Starfleet pursues people with, or associated with, modified genetics, from Bashir to SNW’s Number One and La’an.
Possibly, the modification was done without Crusher’s consent, possibly indicating that there may be an untold number of hidden agents working against Starfleet in a long term plan.
