Okay, so I MAY have started sliding down the slippery slope of upgrade kits. But for now I'm still able to pick and choose. Such as this one, for a longtime favorite design: Shattered Glass Starscream.

(I do have other ones I have my eye on that I don't have this excuse for, like the van feet, or the Printformers windshields for Wheeljack/Exhaust and at least one spoiler/wing kit for them. But those are going to have to wait because man, this crap is expensive.)

The 115 Studio/Workshop "YYW-16" kit seemed like the best deal among the handful of 3d printed SG Starscream kits that offer much the same thing. Still pricey for four pieces, but tolerable.

To my eye, this kit's shoulder armor pieces match the original the best (red base with a white upper portion, just lacking the wingtips), although they only have one 5mm port rather than the bigger gaps other kits' pieces have that can accommodate the sword handles so as not to end up too long. I may need to find alternative blades to use.

(You CAN order separate clear blades/blasters that are pretty good matches for the original and aren't as unwieldy in length when plugged in, but those cost extra and I was already iffy about dropping this much on a kit.)

Of note: I think this the only SG Starscream kit that has the shoulder intake pieces, which is part of what sealed the deal for me. The missile tip and port in each can accommodate blast effects to varying degrees of success. I wanted to use the cluster missile from Cyberverse Deluxe Starscream with the port, but it didn't have enough of a stem to plug in. It does go on the missile tip, but looks less good that way.

Sorta bonus: if you really want to add to recapturing the look of the Cybertron tetrajet, you could get another pair of shoulder armor pieces and peg them to the legs to flesh them out and match the original more. Not sure where you'd put those in altmode though.

Now I want to find a chestplate that can replace the Siege Starscream mold's, to try and get that angular and blocky Cybertron design going. I mean, this chestplate pops right off, is pure faux parts anyway, and doesn't get in the way of anything in altmode, so it's perfect. Anyone who can direct me to commissioning a 3d design/print? Or hey, maybe there's a kit out there that has it. Sunk cost time. (Alternatively: toying with the idea of making my own using parts from Cyberverse Warrior Jetfire. Are the sizes close enough?)

Aside: man, Hasbro's had terrible material choices of late when it comes to yellowing. The many examples of yellowed gray plastic of late had me worried for SG Megs and Screamer, and it's already starting -- fresh out the box, this copy had some parts already a creamy off white (the thin panel connecting the wings to the main jet fuselage via swivel), and some brown spots on the back of one shin (the spring-loaded panel).

Admittedly I don't know for sure if they're yellowing or were cast in that off-white (Titans Return had some warm pre-yellowed grays).

Great news for those wishing for the "Overair" micromaster but who couldn't get the extremely rare and now overpriced Target micromaster boxed set. If you've got the (arguably still rareish) "Oilslick" double pretender figure, the Micromaster was designed originally to be Overair.

Created from alien saurians on a long-dead planet, the Nemesis Dinobots are here! Fueled by dark energon, these simple-minded creatures will protect their dark masters without a word! Autobots and Dinobots had better watch out against these dark-energon blade-wielding monstocities!

First in this series is...

Nemesis Strafe
Nemesis Strafe (ネメシス・ストラフ Nemeshisu Sutorafu) is a deadly, hidden aerial assasin. In nemicolopterus crypticus mode, it can fly silently, undetected by most of its prey. Specialised claws allow it to cling and move suprisingly well amongst trees and other objects. Its dual beast-mode beaks can cut through most known metals.

Nemesis Scorn
Nemesis Scorn (ネメシス・スコーン Nemeshisu Sukōn) is an aquatic expert, favouring wet environments where it's huge Spinosaurus mode is not a hinderance. Dark Energon "sails" can be generated between it's dorsal spines in beast mode, which can be used for either greater manouverbility beneath the waters, or to absorb and deflect energy blasts from enemies.
