Under his Cowl, Omega smiled. Though it was a smile devoid of warmth. The idea of simply submitting to being ‘escorted’ to a meeting with Correspondent 251 (though potentially useful) was almost abhorrent to him. Partly because it risked Sue’zhan being fully ‘reaquired’ by YPNR. But mostly because of all they’d learnt about what 251 was involved in and the rest of what she might try. He had been willing to entertain the idea as long as Lucidas had remained nominally diplomatic. His response to Lady Destron however, dispelled that.

”And there it is!“

Omegas voice was cold.

“As the Lady says, the mask slips. Your facade of of absent minded indifference. You hide much behind your big smiles and big words.”

High Intellectual Lucidas chuckled, "Your friend requested an escort and yet the Viknadian seems to want to push things. Thank you for confirming your heritage, by the way. I was unsure."

“Pot calling the kettle black much.

My friend was doing no such thing Luci. Did she threaten you? Did she patronize you? Did she even draw any weapons?

No. she moved and you threatened, then condescended to her.”

Omega sighed then shook his head, his frustration evident.

”This should—but probably won’t—come as a surprise to you. But your ‘glorious Republica’ is infamous on ‘the Ground’.

Heritage?”

Night Cap can feel his cheeks filling with air. He's going to go full pufferfish mode if he doesn't let it out.

"We're not going anywhere until we know this place isn't going to crash."

High Intellectual Lucidas paused for a moment, looking at Night Cap. Then said, "Oh, I'm sure the Chief Apothecary would love to meet you..."

Then he addressed everyone, "I'm not sure how long it'll be until we can reestablish the autopilot and get turned around. Elizilah will have to manually pilot it until then. But if you'd like to wait in the rain until then, so be it. As far as heritage, I assumed the Viknadian was from Viknadia due to context clues."

Since she was being so obvious about it, perhaps a little Viknadian magic then. The droplets of rain seem to pause about her for a moment as her spell arks outward like invisible lightning connecting to all those who stand with her.

"Do not let this one's silver tongue and soft words cow you, friends, we have already squandered more time that I fear prudence would have better utilized in the prevention of death."

"Hmm. Well, now that you know we have both a Viknadian and a talking pawny in our group, maybe it's your turn to share something we don't know. Like, say, who is this Chief Apothecary person? What is their job, what are they like? Or perhaps you could tell us more about Correspondent 251. If you plan to have us processed for citizenship, shouldn't we know more about the place first?"

As water dripped across the tome Patch was carrying, High Intellectual Lucidas replied, "Very well then. Correspondent 251 is the head of communications and security for YPNR. All considered, whoever attempted sabotage is causing her quite the logistical nightmare. Thankfully, the Chief Librarian seems to have the capacity to right the ship. You've already met Elizilah, a veritable repository of knowledge. While it was argued that her job had become obsolete, she's proving why voting to retain her was a wise decision.

Jezejandra, our Chief Apothecary is is in charge of medicine, science, and invention. So many wonders have come about because of her. Lesser apothecaries tend to fill the role of providing those works in a way that the populace can better understand it. It varies and you'd have to speak with her about the details."

"Hmm, I see. Very interesting." Patch tried to hug the book closer to her body but at this point she was well and truly soaked. This was the breaking point for her.

She nudged Omega. "Hey. I really, really want to get somewhere dry," she whispered. "I know I said we wouldn't be moving until she's done doing the thing, but I was also hoping it wouldn't take this long. What do you think?"

“Communications, hmm.” Speaking mostly to himself in barely a whisper, the Knight mused. “That connects the dots for Holiday Islands ‘management’, Cupid Thunder and other ‘Ground based’ operations. She is at the centre of it. More or less. A lynchpin.”

Then he felt Patchs nudge. Though it didn’t break his train-of-thought, it did bring the rest of the world back into focus. With a sharp intake of breath, the Omega Knight moved.

Too long. So listen to your friends and get back to work!

Nodding in response to the (clearly soaked) librarian mage, Omega sighed.

”Sorry about that. I… got stuck in a mental loop.

I’d prefer not to leave either, but I get your point. And i’m not going to risk splitting us up up here.”

Detaching his cape again, Omega wrapped it around Patchs shoulders. It was a water proof is at got, so while it might not help a great deal now, it should maybe stop her getting any wetter. Then he turned to look at the (still floating) Lucidas.

”if we return indoors for now, would be kind enough to notify us when Elizalah has completed her task and this floating city is flying safely again?”

High Intellectual Lucidas shrugged and replied, "Monday will send word when Elizilah is done. Well, you musn't keep your escort waiting."

The group climbed back down the ladder to their waiting escort. Droids were on either side of them as they walked down the long corridors. The droids were wordless in their march. Equally as wordless was Sue'zhan as she hung her head.

They soon passed through a massive revolving door to a large cylindrical room. In the center was none other than Correspondent 251. Turning to Sue'zhan first, she said, "You have caused an inordinate number of problems for our procedures. However, seeing as you surrendered last night and you're a citizen of YPNR, I'll concern myself with that in due time. Welcome home." Addressing the rest of the group, she said, "Part of me wants to thank you for stopping the dangerous ground criminal who found his way up here. Of course, it begs the question of how so many of you were randomly out and about unsupervised."

Patch felt like putting a hand on Sue'zhan's shoulder, and saying something reassuring, like "Don't worry, we've gotten out of tighter situations in the past." That was what would be appropriate, she thought. But she was struggling to be confident herself, and reassuring another would be a tall ask. Maybe Kage would...

As they entered the room, Patch looked around for exits and other notable features, in case they needed to make an escape... or put up a fight.

The term 'smoldering' aptly described Destron at the moment when she realized they'd been talked back inside... were her blood any hotter 'steaming' might be more appropriate... she felt like this might be a mistake. but Patch was much smarter than her, so Dee would follow her lead.

Omega nodded wordlessly to Lucidas, not completely trusting him on this. However, he was willing to believe the Monday might at least be truthful.

Much like the Lady Destron, he was frustrated with the way things were going. Lucidas was pretentious and (though at least partially understandable ish) unwilling to open up about certain things. Though whether that is because of lack of trust, or ulterior motives was unclear. This scraped on Kages nerves, because he wasn’t the diplomatic type, as such. He was the monster in the dark who scared the wicked and punched crime in the face. Not having a clear target kept him on edge. So he spoke softly to the Princess.

”Now is the time for patience and caution. Justice will come, but only when the shadows lift and our target is clear. Steel yourself mighty Lady.”

Then he let Go of Retributions hilt, so that he could raise his hand and place it firmly (and reassuringly) on Sue’zhans shoulder. Agsin speaking softly, the Knight said.

”Never fear, for we are here. You are safe with us, ‘cause we’ve survived far worse.”

Giving Sue’zhans shoulder a light squeeze, the Knight looked over and nodded to Patch, hoping the drenched spell caster had heard too.

Once they reached Correspondent 251, Omega then lapsed into silence for a moment as he looked around, surreptitiously counting the number of droids and people in the room.

That is a lot higher than I was expecting. Cool.

While Patch could only see so much with the droid in front of her blocking her view, Kage saw seven droids in the room. Four were in front of the group and three behind them with Correspondent 251 standing by herself in the center of the room and there seemed to be a door behind her.

Correspondent 251 turned to face Beathra. It was quite obvious she was looking at him despite her eyes being hidden behind her opaque visor. After a short pause she said, "Duly noted." Addressing the rest of the group, she asked, "Why are you up here? Though the Omega Knight was vouched for, I do not know why the invitation was given."
