Florida Student-Athletes Are Now Being Asked to Report Their Periods Online

"...A registration form for Florida's student-athletes is raising alarm among parents and doctors, as the menstrual history of female athletes is now being stored online—in a state with a 15-week abortion ban.

The annual physical form is not new, nor are its questions about menstruation. For two decades, female students in Florida have reported when they got their first period, how many weeks have passed between periods and when they had their last period, among other questions. They submitted these answers together with other medical questions on written pieces of paper..."

FB friend:
A gun-toting father-son duo heard someone at their door, assumed the person was robbing them when in fact he was just dropping off a package, then went into the streets with guns and tried to murder the first random person they found. In retaliation for touching their door.

In other words, they are fully qualified by temperament to serve as police officers in the great state of Florida. I believe "shoot at the first random person that you assume is guilty of an as-yet unverified crime" is taught as an official policy there.

Charlie Crist's campaign manager is gone after domestic abuse charges.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Prior to his resignation earlier this week, the campaign manager for Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist was arrested in Maryland after he and the mother of his child each filed domestic abuse-related charges against each other.

Austin John Durrer, a 43-year-old who worked as chief of staff in Crist’s congressional office before joining the campaign, was arrested Tuesday at his Cambridge, Md., home. The arrest was first reported by NBC News. Authorities arrested only Durrer but he later pressed charges against the child’s mother, Jackie Whisman, according to court records.

Oddly the campaign first said he was resigning to focus on a family matter, then later said they canned him immediately as soon as they found out about the domestic abuse charges.

One day after Durrer’s arrest, Crist’s campaign said Durrer was resigning to “focus on a family matter,” but offered no specific details. On Friday, the campaign issued a statement saying that Durrer “was dismissed as soon as the campaign learned of this situation.”

Durrer was released shortly after his arrest, after posting a $10,000 bond, according to online court records.

The campaign shakeup comes in the final stretch of a campaign that has Crist losing by nearly every metric to Gov. Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis is winning by nearly 10 points in the Real Clear Politics average of polls.

Oliver Laughland travels to Walt Disney World, Florida, to see how a law restricting the teaching of LGBTQ+ issues is affecting voters in the run-up to the midterm elections

Republicans extended their majority in the state in 2020, and with far-right Governor Ron DeSantis up for re-election, will his divisive culture wars help him win a second term?.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

It absolutely will not.

Desantis himself drawing the redistricting map, and the florida supreme court going "meh, i'll allow it", combined with his brand new voting police will.

The park, it's infrastructure, and the fame of the location... esh. Things will have to devolve a hell of a lot more before disney considers abandoning the location. But considering the lip service disney pays to stuff like diversity and equality: I can easily see those fascists just continuing to chip away at it until disney goes "euro disney land" and everyone shows up one day to boarded up gates plastered with "thank you for visiting" signs.

I think it's more likely that Disney will quietly give the fascists just enough bribes campaign donations to get exceptions carved out for themselves. And if that ever stops working, then they'll move the park. Disneyworld makes far too much money to just shut it all down.

Nothing good comes from this. At all.

Ironbite-next, they're gonna start rounding up LGBT folks and sticking them in ghettos for "their own security".

And it's not just trans kids that might need puberty blockers, precocious puberty is a thing that happens, and it can need treatment.

They'll never close it. This is a major corporation we're talking about, here, run by people who are living comfortably at the opposite end of the country in the most socially-progressive state. There's nothing the government of Florida could ever do that would inconvenience them more than having to shutter their biggest and most profitable enterprise. There could be border patrols forcing everyone who enters the state to strip down and prove that their physical sex matches their gender, and those who are willing to go through with it would still bring in more revenue than no guests at all.

But that's not going to bring in enough revenue to keep Disney happy. Sure, they can keep raising prices to make up for the lower number of park goers, but eventually they're going to price out more people than price hikes can compensate for, and then they'll have to rely on the super-rich remaining interested enough in DW to visit on a weekly basis to keep it afloat. If that doesn't happen, then DW either sinks or moves.
