CSI Returns (potential spoilery discussion)

CSI: Vegas premiered last night, returning us to the not-so-pretty crimes of sin-city, and, aside from a few old favorites, a new group of forensic scientists putting the pieces together. And it just hit the ground running, and by the end we had ourselves a larger mystery on our hands.

So, anybody else catch it? And if so, does anyone have any theories?

It's abundantly clear that whoever is behind this conspiracy has been playing the long game... the attempted murder of Brass, tied to an unsolved Kidnapping/Murder through the ransom, that weaves it's way back to the 'storage lab'... who's contents put every single case the lab has ever processed in question, as well as setting up one of the old guard to take the fall.

Throughout the years of the first series, there where plenty of Murderers who's nefarious escapades lasted well past a 60 minute timeframe. The Miniature Killer, Dr. Jekyll, Nate Haskell to name a few. However the list of likely suspects from the first series is a short one, as many where either killed during capture, or killed themselves in custody.

Hannah West: A child prodigy who, by her last appearance, had graduated Harvard and was teaching in College. She'd also managed to get her brother off on murder and later framed him for killing his girlfriend out of jealousy... which later motivated him to commit suicide in custody. It was never revealed wither or not she was ever charged with the murder, which is highly unlikely considering how smart she was. She certainly has the brains to pull it off, possibly motivated by anger over the death of her brother.

Former Under-Sherriff Jeffery McKeen: For a time he was just the typical pompous bureaucrat, only later to be revealed to be in bed with the mob. He executed CSI Warrick Brown after failing to frame him murder of Mob Boss Lou Gedda. Then later he would orchestrate revenge attacks against Conrad Ecklee and DB Russel following his Son's death from his prison cell. While unable to further punish him for his crimes, he would be transferred to a higher security prison to prevent further manipulations. However the questions remains if it was enough.

The Gig Harbor Killer/Paul Winthrop: The Survivor in a duo of sibling serial killers... They would stalk and murder college age girls, later setting up faux crime scenes with forensic tape woven out of the victims skin. His brother, Jared Brisco, would later be arrested, tried, and convicted of the 7 murders thanks to the work of DB Russel. When his brother lost his appeals and was nearing his execution, he began his work again to cause reasonable doubt, using proxies and blackmail. Upon his brothers release, they planned to get revenge on Russel by kidnapping and murdering his daughter... however the altercation lead to Jared being killed, and Paul wounded. Despite his ruse being revealed, he continued on his plans for revenge for the death of his brother... leading to 3 murders before he was taken down. A former business Mogul, he certainly has the money to pull this off.

Or maybe it's a new player entirely... maybe someone we've never thought to look at. Only time will tell.
