No, not you...probably.

The next six episodes of Make Your Mark will drop probably around September 18. Then the final 3 and last 44 minute special will drop in November 23.

We're getting a LOT more of Tell Your Tale. 328 minutes worth of content. Including what seems like 4 longer specials throughout next year. In March, August, October, and November . That's about 66 episodes, if you divide them into 5 minute chunks. For comparision, the first year of TYT, from April 2022 to April 2023 was 49 episodes totaling about 245 minutes or 4 hours and 5 minutes. So, yeah, they're upping the output of TYT.

Also, seems there's plans to put G5 on linear television. That MIGHT be Discovery Family, but it might be something else. They don't mention what channel they'll start airing stuff on.

They don't mention anything about the next MYM season for 2024. Everything's dropping later this year. Probably just don't want to spoil anything, but still, interesting.

I hope MYM is getting another order and they're just not ready to announce anything yet. But, maybe this was always going to be it, and maybe it's going to be replaced by the mysterious other 2D show that long ago seemed to be coming but we never heard anything about.

In any case it's nice to see that they realize they have something good on their hands with TYT. This isn't just a renewal. It's a promotion.

It has to be. It's too oddly specific to not be it. Whether it's meaningful or just an Easter egg remains to be seen, though meaningless "Hey, remember this?" type references aren't something G5 really does.

Yeah, people pointed out the box in the last episode of Chapter 4, too.

And a picture of it popped up in the G5 Movie.

It's POSSIBLE that they're retconning it so that every Alicorn from the Alicorn homeland of Skyros gets one of these boxes? Like once you reach a certain age, you get a party and one of these boxes? Like a traditional quinceanera gift? Who knows? It's most likely that this is just a background element the animators added in for fun.

Retcon might be a strong word. If they explain it it'll actually be the first explanation the box has ever gotten.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Alright, so I just finished chapter four. I'm generally quite happy with how it came out, and even had a few genuine laugh out loud moments too.

BUT!... is anyone else concerned about izzy? There was a while in there where she kinda seemed like she was on the edge of a psychotic episode...

Izzy varies so much from episode to episode and show to show that I've just come to roll with it. But, yeah, there are definitely a few times where she gives a off hand comment or a weird reaction where I kind of worry about her. But, they don't seem to be making it worse every episode or anything, so I don't think it's building to anything. It's just a thing that happens sometimes with Izzy?

It was most obvious in the episodes where they were directly interacting and subsequently ignoring unicorn culture. Seems like despite living outside of bridlewood, the superstition is still very deeply ingrained.

At least she's not running around bing-bonging...

The bing-bonging actually kind of felt weird to me, because I feel like it's been a while since we've seen the unicorns do that in the show. I had thought they had gotten over that. But...no. And if that one comment a random unicorn gives about "magic being jinxie" is correct...they will NEVER get over it.

Izzy's always been like this. Half of her dialog is the most genuine happiness. The other half of her dialog is thinly veiled cries for help. She needs a hug and has been trying to say it without saying it.

Yeah, the IDW version of Ponyville Mysteries was...strange. It's like they didn't even get a summary of what the books were about, and just assumed it was a junior detective story. A tie-in that...didn't even properly tie-in to the books they were promoting. That kind of sums up IDW MLP in a nutshell. They couldn't even win for losing.

I'll admit, there are a handful of issues that are various shades of good, nice, or heartwarming, but none that are truly "great" or "must read". Especially, from the post-Katie Cook later era of the comic. Anything with Andy Price's art is probably worth it, if only for the art.

I might recommend the 5 issue Nightmare Knights series, which has Luna forming a Ocean's Eleven-style team of anti-heroes to raid a interdimensional casino. Is it AMAZING? ...Well, it's okay. Is it as good as the manga? ...No. But, it's short, and you can probably just read one trade to get a idea if you even want to try to find more, since I do feel like this is a highlight.

And, I'll say this about the crossover: I liked the witches. They were cute characters. BUT....maybe they shouldn't have taken up half the page-space of this comic? Or maybe the "crossover" aspect should have been a fun surprise instead of a selling point? As a crossover...this did not meet expectations. I feel that's putting it lightly.

Also, random news: G5 is getting a console video game!
A highlight of the IDW MLP comics is the 5-issue series "Nightmare Knights," which involves Luna forming a team to raid an interdimensional casino. It's too bad we can't get there. But we have the opportunity to play here at one of the best online casinos.

People are dramatizing this (and yeah, the price difference is staggering) but people have to remember that Hasbro does this all the time. Remember the time they wanted a stronger presence in videogames so they just bought Atari? That purchase didn't last long either. Hasbro just buys things and figures out what they want to do with them later, and sometimes never figures it out.

Also, Hasbro isn't selling all of eOne. They're keeping the IPs they wanted in the first place, like Peppa Pig and PJ Masks. So yeah, $4 billion - $500 million = a bad loss, but that loss doesn't count some revenue streams that Hasbro isn't giving up.

I'll admit, the more I looked into it...the less it seemed like eOne actually DID. I was thinking they were the one's making some of these cartoons, given how prominent their logo is on some of this stuff, but it seemed they farmed most of them out.

Make Your Mark is made by Atomic Cartoons. Tell Your Tale is made by Lil Critter Workshop. Transformers Earthspark is made by Icon Creative Studios.

As far as I can tell, and this is probably oversimplifying things...Hasbro is just selling off the equivalent of middle management on these shows. I guess Hasbro has been shifting responsibilities to different companies for years. So, this might not actually effect anything.
