The winner of the "Activate Your Alt Mode" Fan Vote has been decided, and the winner is going to SHOCK the world! That's right, it's the Shockmaster! Er, I mean, Shockwave! Here's legendary voice actor Frank Welker announcing the winner: Via Collider, Hasbro has presented us with a better look at the new alt mode for the classic Transformers villain: That's right -- it looks like you really are what you eat! As animalistic alt modes go, the whale is a rare one. The first instance to be recalled offhand is for the Maximal base Orcanoch in the Beast Wars portion of Hasbro's MicroVerse toy line, but seeing as that toy was never really given much time in fiction, one can question whether it counts as a character at all. (Even TFWiki uses both "it" and "he" to describe it, but most fiction seems to have it as a simple ship/base.) The other, perhaps more prominent instance was only in fiction, as Tidal Wave took it on as an alt mode in lieu of his usual Dark Fleet form in IDW's Sins of the Wreckers mini-series. Ironically, the original Armada Tidal Wave's name in the Japanese version, Micron Legend, was "Shockwave." So in a way, it's like coming full circle! But as for our favorite one-eyed, one-handed flying purple space gun, his connection to the animal is a bit more... grim. See, in Skybound's Transformers comics, he Perhaps this is his way of cutting out the middleman -- er, middle-machine -- from the process. After all, that does sound... logical. Hey, remember that stand-alone Transformers store at Battersea Power Station that we told you about last year? Well, if you don't, you can get caught up here. Now then, it turns out they had a special event there for Transformers Day, one where they revealed a new Titan! That looks like Battersea Power Station! Does that technically make this guy a part of the Collaborative line, or...? Well, that's getting a little ahead of ourselves, as this big boy ain't getting any toys just yet. Heck, he doesn't even have a name! That's where you come in. Yes, you. Specifically, the person reading these words on your screen right now. You and you alone have been chosen to pick the name. You and everyone else like you... or just anyone who visits this link. Here's a bigger look at the big guy: This big fella makes his debut in an exclusive mini-comic: That's immense indeed. As we all know, no Transformer has ever been bigger than Optimus Prime to date. Kidding aside, there are three names to choose from with which to christen the Battersea Titan: Turbine Maximus, Metroboss, or Autobot Powerplex. Eh, not exactly the most inspired names, are they? Or rather, maybe a little too inspired. Yeah, a lot of Titans tend to share parts of their names, but that's usually if they're sharing designs/molds. Metroplex and Metrotitan, for instance, or the trinity of Fortress Maximus, Grand Maximus, and Brave Maximus. But then, our friends over at Tformers seem inclined to think that he(?) has roots in the Metroplex lineage, so that might make sense and/or influence your voting. Personally, I'm reminded more of Titans Return Fortress Maximus, except they built additional pylons on the shoulders. But speaking of Tformers, they've got the comic in all its bizarre hexagonal glory over there, so go give it a gander! With all that squared away, which name appeals to you the most? Personally, I think they should split the difference, and go with "Turbine Powerplex." Eh, maybe there will be a tie. But tell us what you think in the comments below! Are you all caught up? Good, because as a part of the Transformers Day celebrations, we've been blessed with a new episode of Transformers: Cyberworld! And it's a doozy. In "Storm the Desert," our heroes are ready to take on the Ensconced Emperor of the Dusty Desert Dunes himself, Scorponok! Optimus has a posse, a look at Scorponok's tech specs, and some keen gear they picked up along the way. That shuttle off of Cyberworld is as good as theirs... right? It's been a long road for Cyberworld, and there's been a lot to keep track of. And as we stand at eight episodes in at five minutes each... well, there are only so many hours in a day, and so many days in a week. It's understandable why someone would have trouble keeping up with the last 20 minutes the show has provided us with so far. Fortunately, Hasbro understands. That's presumably why this week, they've uploaded a recap episode that will help get you up to speed on everything that's happened in the last 1,200 seconds that have aired since four weeks ago. Actually, "recap" miiight be a little bit of a strong word. Really, they've just made the most of their ten minutes by truncating the five minute episodes down even further into about two and a half minutes, so no replay of the previous episode taking up the last half here. Because that would just be silly. Oh, and in case you're wondering? Yes, there was a previous recap for the first four episodes as well, which you can find here. So, which format better fits your schedule? Four five minute episodes spaced across four weeks, or one ten minute episode every fifth week? And if it's the latter, are you even still reading this, or have you already moved on? As we eagerly await the surely inevitable 36 minute supercut that trims every episode down to a minute or less, tell us what you think of this way of presenting episodes in the comments below, or in the "Transformers: Cyberworld, Chops R Us" thread in our forums. Image via Wikipedia Some sad news this week, as Hasbro has announced that it is moving to Boston from its longtime home in Rhode Island. By the end of 2026, around 700 employees are expected to make the transition with the company to the new headquarters, located in Boston’s Seaport District at 400 Summer Street, where they will have seven floors across 265,000 square feet to play with. Not everyone is celebrating, though. The Hassenfeld Brothers, Herman, Hillel, and Henry, founded the company in the city of Pawtucket all the way back in 1923, and it has been a staple of the community ever since, supporting the community by providing jobs, recruiting from the state's colleges and universities, and donating to local charities, such as the Hasbro Children’s Hospital and the Rhode Island Special Olympics, which they said they will continue to support. Despite this, the Mayor of Pawtucket, Don Grebien, had this to say: According to Boston Business Journal Executive Editor Doug Banks, the folks in Pawtucket were even willing to go so far as to offer the company an undeveloped parcel of land in Providence for the low, low price of $1 USD. You can't even get a BotBot for that cheap. "They even as of last week, they were scrambling to offer economic incentives, but in the end, it wasn't enough," Banks explained. Two Transformers conventions would be held in Rhode Island, thanks to the company's ties to the area. The first, BotCon 2007, included a tour of the company. The second, HasCon 2017, would celebrate all of the company's brands. It would be the first as well as the last of its kind to date. Time marches on, but this truly marks the end of an era. Eight waves in and still surprising fans. Blokees pivots back to the regular scale with new official pics of wave 8 of the standard Galaxy Version series. "One Shall Fall: The Final Clash Returns" (how final is final) brings a new wave of blind-boxed 5.5" kits features Optimus Prime, Hot Rod, Blitzwing, a T30-looking Metroplex, Sludge, dino mode Sludge, "Sharkticon", and Shrapnel -- and the original 86 Grand Mal, Unicron's Head (with little Autobot shuttle)! This series' hidden figure (1/36) is the half-dead Semi-Sleeping Optimus Prime, which may be the most relatable Optimus Prime has been in a while. A look at the order page on the Blokees website makes clear the neat accessories these figures come with in addition to their usual sidearms (which are also featured in these promo shots): Shrapnel includes a wee insect-mode Bombshell, Metroplex has a tiny Optimus Prime whose call he can heed, Hot Rod includes Fishing Rod so he can go fish for a whopper (and catch a teeny Sharkticon instead), and dino Sludge has his pop-out eyes so your Devastator (however you got the parts) can reenact the movie. Also of interest is some innovation in the pieces and articulation. On the website, Hot Rod is used as the demo piece to show off new articulation (new ab crunch joint, drop-down hips, side to side waist bends, thigh swivels, double-joint knees), and the official Blokees Twitter/X account has shared a video showing off the new articulation as demonstrated by the Optimus Prime figure. There hasn't been much said about Transformers: Reactivate in a while. Which makes sense -- people don't tend to talk about cancelled video games as much as those which have actually come out, or are still in development. Still, people are talking about it, especially when new pieces of would-be lost media tend to emerge, such as an early build of the game from RoboGamer1HD a few months ago. But RoboGamer1HD isn't the only one who's been peeling back layers of mystique like an onion, as the YouTube channel TFR Archive has also been doing some digging. And the latest fruits of their efforts? What would have been the E3 2020 trailer for the game back when it was called "Transformers: Rise": From the description on YouTube: For those of you too young to remember, shame on you for making me feel old. But also, E3 -- more formally known as the Electronic Entertainment Expo -- was a trade show formed by the giants of the video game industry of the '90s after they basically got tired of the shoddy treatment they received at the hands of the folks running Consumer Electronics Show. Yep, that's right. They decided to make their own trade show, with blackjack and booth babes. Lots of other spectacle, too. Anyway, thanks to the rise of the internet and instantaneous information, questions of E3's relevance began to creep into the minds of all who partook, and in 2020... well, let's just say lockdowns and social distancing were not very conducive to shaking hands and having hundreds of people laying their sweaty mitts on the same controllers throughout several hot summer Los Angeles days in a row. (Trust me, I know. I've been there.) Incidentally, the Consumer Electronics Show still continues to this day, while I'm having to explain to you here today what E3 was. Funny how life works out, though I don't think you need to feel too sorry for the folks in the gaming biz -- the very thing that helped kill it is allowing them to continue to thrive without shelling out thousands for floor space, so I guess it kinda worked out. Anyway, yeah. If there wasn't a pandemic in 2020, the above is what you would have seen that year. Pretty cool, huh?
