During one of the more recent-ish Hasbro Pulse streams, I believe that someone from the Transformers team teased us with the possibility of doing releases of Transformers figures that resembled the prototypes shown off at toy shows. Or at least, I think they did. I can't find it, so we're not going to hold them to that. Not that we have to, because Hasbro has revealed that that's exactly what they're doing with the new "Transformers Spotlight" subline. The first release in the new subline is, of course, Optimus Prime. And not just any Optimus Prime, but the cheapest Optimus Prime currently available that they could get away with! Which makes sense, because you're getting not one, not two, not four, but three versions of the toy in one purchase! So it makes sense to start small with, say, something like the Studio Series Deluxe Class Transformers Devastation Optimus Prime than something like, I don't know, the Studio Series '86 Optimus Prime, which would cost something like $270 USD, probably. That said, they're starting with the Studio Series Deluxe Class Transformers Devastation Optimus Prime, and the 3-pack will cost you just ("just") $84.99 USD. What that gets you is the grey model version, based on the 3D render they used to create the sculpt; the "prototype" figure, which is "rendered in molded colors, represents the extensive testing our tools and molds go through to ensure the highest quality"; and of course, the fully-painted "final" version. (Put a pin in that, we'll come back to it in a moment.) Each figure also comes with three accessories that are "iconic" to the leader of the Autobots: The Matrix of Leadership, his trusty Energon Axe, and of course, his good ol' Ion Blaster. Now, you -- especially if you purchased the original release of this figure -- might have noticed some discrepancies between the "final" figure shown here and the one released at mass retail. If you don't have it, let me refresh your memory: As some have noted, the actual release of Studio Series Deluxe Class Transformers Devastation Optimus Prime is lacking in a few areas when compared to what is featured in the set. For one thing, there's a lack of paint apps compared to the Spotlight version, making the latter look closer to the video game than the one actually bearing its name (whose purview as a "Studio Series" figure, one would think, would be to come as close to the on-screen representation as possible). Meanwhile, if the purpose of "Spotlight" is to detail the steps from conception to release, it is kinda funny that the final release version in the box would not match what was actually the final release (though if you want to split hairs, then I guess this is technically the "final release," at least thus far). The other thing is that the Spotlight figures have three, count 'em, three Ion Cannons, whereas SSDCTFDOP came with zero. Zilch. Nada. Cybergoose egg. I guess on the bright side, this means you can finally equip your SSDCTFDOP with one of the three that come with this set, if you so choose. On the downside, that means buying three more of the figure you already have. Now, I'm not saying that there may not be good reasons for the discrepancies... but given the ostensible purpose of each line, it is kind of funny, if not ironic. Anyway, this set is a Hasbro Pulse exclusive, and you can find it (along with further details) right here. So, what do you think? Well, things didn't go too well for Optimus and his team last time, so they could sure use a break. A chance to regroup and get some levels back up. But naturally, in "Carousel Chaos," it's going to be easier said than done, as some familiar faces join the fray. Also: Face Warning! Kind of a bit of tone whiplash after the last one, and doesn't progress things much, but at least it gets the crew back on their feet to take on more, yeah? All the way back in June, rumors were going around that Hasbro and the folks at Skybound Entertainment were looking to break the latter's recent smash-hit Energon Universe out of the funny books and into the wide-reaching realm of adult animation. Well today, as Deadline reports, those rumors have a bit of meat to them, after all. The word is that they're soon going to be trying to shop around for someone interested in making an adult-oriented animated series out of the Robert Kirkman-helmed new take that combines the worlds of Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Skybound's own secret spice, Void Rivals. Joe Henderson, a producer and writer known for his work on Lucifer, Almost Human, and White Collar, is attached to the project as writer and showrunner. The goal is to make a series that's in line with another adult-oriented comic-to-cartoon adaptation that's proven successful, Kirkman's own Invincible. Sorry, this one's coming in a little late. Busy day/night yesterday. But in case you hadn't heard, the 12th episode of Transformers: Cyberworld, "Oh Scrap!", is now up and available for your viewing enjoyment! And it's a doozy, too, answering some questions people have had since this whole thing began -- or at least shedding some light on some of them. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself. Don't let the runtime deter you. It's still just five minutes, only they've added episodes 3, 5, and 7 on the back end for Primus only knows what reason. Oh, let's not kid ourselves. Hey, kids! It's time for another new episode of Transformers: Cyberworld! Episode 11, "Game-a-Tron," sees our heroes enact the timeless strategy of divide-and-conquer as they seek to accumulate more Energon and raise their levels faster than the routine spawns allow. But wait, isn't there a rule about never splitting the party? Eh, I'm sure it'll be fine. And hey, for those who thought and have been disappointed that a certain jawsome Decepticon hasn't shown as much distinct personality as prior iterations... And as always, if you missed the last episode, then you can catch it... after this week's episode. Because that makes sense. From the NYCC Transformers Panel (pictures by TFW2005) as well as Screenrant, Hasbro has revealed the next set of Timelines figures, this time taking us back to Feudal-era Japan with samurai-themed versions of Starscream and Optimus Prime (see the gallery below). Optimus transformers into an ox-cart complete with robotic ox, while Starscream now converts into a robotic falcon. It's been an agonizing... *checks watch* ...16 days since the last episode of Transformers: Cyberworld, but if they're going to keep on keeping in spirit with the spooky season, then I'd say it was worth the wait. In the tenth episode, titled "A Bug's Lie," Bumblebee breaks off from the rest of Team Prime when they run across a rogue Chop Shop, who is promising fabulous secret powers in a very Gollum-esque way. Will Bumblebee succumb to his trap and we'll have to replace him with another character for the remaining 26 episodes? Watch and find out! Plus, if you missed the last episode (or the absolutely necessary abridged recap) and to you, space is warped and time is bendable, then it's positioned right after the newest one here, because that's how it be, Bee. Walmart has put up listings for two new Retro Series Deluxe toys, Wheelie and Outback. Like other Retro releases before them, each comes on a G1 minibot-styled bubble cardback and is painted in colors evoking their original 1980's releases. Outback, as expected, is a Brawn retool, but Wheelie is a brand new, never seen before mold. See the gallery below for pictures of these two new toys. It's that time once again, to celebrate raw, unbridled consumerism the greater franchise that we all know and love, by voting for our favorites to be entered into the Transformers 2025 Hall of Fame! This year, the voting process is somewhat... streamlined. That is, we've gone from four categories down to three. These are (drumroll, please): Age of the Primes Toy of the Year Studio Series Toy of the Year Exclusives Toy of the Year No clutter with categories such as "Fictional Characters" or "Humans", specifically of the real life variety. What have they ever done for this franchise? Nothing, I tell you! There's a reason Transformers fans hate humans, and that's why Hasbro has done us all the courtesy of removing them from any space that would needlessly occupy what really matters -- voting for which toy we like best! In a way, though, I suppose you could say that last year's fourth category, "Favorite of the Thirteen Primes," has been effectively folded into the "Age of the Primes Toy of the Year." Because, obviously. Though five of The Thirteen aren't on the ballot, but what can you do? Those wacky release schedules, am I right? Of course, there's no purchase necessary in order to vote -- only to have any idea of what you're talking about when you do! Good thing there's a decent chance you might not even see some of these ballot entries in person until 2026! But they'll be yesterday's news by then, so just try to take a hot guess at it in the meantime. So click here, vote early, and vote often! once! I don't know, just try your luck, I guess.
