HBO Cancels One Game Of Thrones Prequel While Announcing Another One!
In geek news today, we found out that HBO will not proceed with the Game of Thrones prequel series set thousands of years before the once popular 8 season series, but will instead make one a little closer to Game of Thrones. Read on for more details.
So earlier today, it was announced that the Naomi Watts prequel series that was in development has been passed on after HBO viewed its pilot. However, HBO just announced that they will be making another “Game of Thrones” prequel series called “House of the Dragon”, which is produced by George R.R. Martin himself, along with Ryan Condal. The series will be based off of Martin’s “Fire & Blood” series and will take place 300 years before Game of Thrones. This would place it around the time of the Doom of Valyria, which killed off all of the Valyrians and their legions of dragons, except for the Targaryen family and their dragons which had settled on Dragonstone. The Targaryen family had a rich history long before the Mad King, and there should be no shortage of great stories to tell in this prequel series. Let’s hope that they get to the tale of Aegon the Conqueror!
