Games Of Thrones Creators Will Make The Next Star Wars Trilogy Starting in 2022!
In a bit of Star Wars news, we finally have confirmation on which trilogy will be going forward for the next three Star Wars films! Read on for more details!
According to Endgaget, Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, stated at the Moffett Nathanson Media & Communications Summit that the next three Star Wars films will be the trilogy from Game of Thrones creators/showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. It was announced earlier this year that the duo would write a Star Wars Trilogy after the 8th and final season of Game of Thrones airs. A side note, George Lucas himself visited them on the Game of Thrones set, and helped direct a scene. While little details are confirmed for when and where this story will take place in the massive Star Wars Universe, fans are all excited to see what the duo will come up with.
Previously, there was some concern by the fans that the Rian Johnson trilogy would be the next set of films that are scheduled to start in 2022. Before the release of the controversial Episode 8, it had been announced that Rian Johnson was working on a trilogy of Star Wars films set in the Old Republic era, centuries before the epic Battle of Yavin. While rumors of Johnson’s trilogy being cancelled have been swirling about for the past year, it was still confirmed to be in pre-production. At this point though, the earliest Johnson’s trilogy would hit theaters would be the year 2028, making it seem like it is most certainly dead, or perhaps even shifted from theatrical films to Disney+ or Hulu exclusives. Stay tuned for more details on both of these trilogies as details emerge.
