Bumblebee Receives ReFrame Stamp For Gender Balanced Production

In case you needed yet another indication that the Bay era of Transformers movies is coming to an end, ReFrame, a group formed to advocate for gender equality all throughout the film and television industries, has awarded their stamp for gender balanced productions to 2018’s Bumblebee!

As reported by Deadline Hollywood, Bumblebee joins company such as A Wrinkle in Time, Ocean’s Eight, Crazy Rich Asians, and the Academy Award Best Picture nominee The Favourite as among the top 100 grossing films from 2018 that meet ReFrame’s standards for gender balanced productions. While the group also found that unfortunately the amount of films that meet their criteria was down to 4% from last year’s 7%, it’s still rather surprising to see a Transformers film being awarded positively for something pertaining to women!

You can find the full list of 2018’s ReFrame stamp recipients on the group’s website. And if you still haven’t taken the time to check out Bumblebee for yourself, the movie will be available digitally starting March 19th with the DVD, Blu-Ray, and 4K Ultra HD physical releases following on April 2nd.

Noa

As a child Noa missed the premier of Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2001) because they were on a camping trip they didn't want to be on and from then on has dedicated their life to trying to make up for missing out on that.
