War for Cybertron Trilogy tie-in cartoon announced for Netflix!

Hasbro have announced that a tie-in cartoon for the current War for Cybertron Trilogy toyline will debut on Netflix in 2020, produced by Rooster Teeth with animation by Prime and Robots in Disguise studio Polygon Pictures. Read on for the full details!

The War for Cybertron franchise, launching this year with the Siege toyline, focuses on the early days of the Autobot-Decepticon war, and it is this time period that the accompanying cartoon will explore, featuring a “new animation look and style”. The studio Rooster Teeth, of RWBY fame, will serve as producers, with animation provided by Polygon Pictures, familiar to Transformers fans for their work on Prime and Robots in Disguise.
Showrunner for the series will be FJ DeSanto (co-writer on the the Transformers: Prime Wars Trilogy cartoons), with other writers including George Krstic (Megas XLR co-creator and Transformers: Combiner Wars co-writer), Gavin Hignight (part of the Transformers: Cyberverse writing team) and Brandon Easton (who has written for Agent Carter and Transformers: Rescue Bots, as well as IDW Publishing’s M.A.S.K. and Transformers: Deviations comics).
John Derderian, Netflix’s director of anime, had the following to say of the new series:

“In this Transformers origin story, we will explore the expansive universe of Cybertron in a way that audiences have never seen before — to the delight of both existing fans and those coming to the franchise for the first time. The Transformers brand is a global phenomenon, and we are thrilled to partner with Hasbro, Rooster Teeth and Polygon to bring this exciting new anime series to our members around the world on Netflix.”

Meanwhile, Tom Warner, SVP for the Transformers franchise at Hasbro, adds:

“We’re thrilled to work with Rooster Teeth’s new premium studio division to bring an all-new Transformers fan-oriented series to Netflix. Transformers has a rich history of great storytelling and War for Cybertron is an exciting new chapter in the Transformers Universe.”

Callum somehow managed to avoid Transformers during his actual childhood, but then the live-action films piqued his interest, Animated suckered him in, and IDW's comics made sure he stuck around.
