The Spark in Review: October 5, 2018

The Spark in Review is the week’s news at Allspark reimagined with more gun arms. This week, all the hubbub is at New York Comic Con, where Hasbro rolled out reveals on War for Cybertron’s Decepticon villains and a tease of Titan Class Omega Supreme. Meanwhile, Forged to Fight launched Megatronus and Toys R Us may be making a comeback.

Toy News and Reveals:
Decepticons! This weekend’s New York Comic Con 2018 was the much-anticipated reveal of the War for Cybertron: Siege Decepticons, who had once again appeared in new listings this week but hadn’t been seen outside of some tetrajets in poster art. The first reveal came in the form of another poster, followed by displays and official images of characters like Starscream, Soundwave and his minions, Shockwave, and a Skytread (Flywheels) to hang out with Power of the Primes Battletrap (though without the latter’s individual robot modes), as well as a very tanky-looking new transforming take on Brunt. Much as Trypticon had been teased with a leg, Titan Omega Supreme was teased with a glimpse at his tank. Rounding things off, TakaraTomy listings for Siege have also appeared for March.
NYCC was also the venue to announce and reveal Studio Series Drift accompanied by three baby Dinobot figures, also listed for preorder on Entertainment Earth.
Outside the fandom-oriented Generations and Studio Series space, NYCC also debuted official images of new Cyberverse figures like Warrior renditions of Prowl and Hot Rod and an Ultra Slipstream, as well as more Bumblebee movie Energon Igniters.
And outside Transformers proper but on the general subject of toys, and with full acknowledgement that it’s not the first time we’ve heard this, the powers behind Toys R Us are making another bid to revive the brand.

Comics, Games, and Media:
IDW have released their shipping list for October 10.
In Transformers gaming, Forged to Fight has debuted Megatronus, based in his Power of the Primes web series incarnation, while Earth Wars rolled out event details for the weekend with a guaranteed non-duplicate four-star crystal.
As a reminder that the series is uncharacteristically accessible for a Transformers cartoon, Cyberverse episode 5 has been released to YouTube.
The previously teased live-action Star Wars series has been given a name and a premise – The Mandalorian will take place in between the original film trilogy and the presently ongoing one and centers on a “gunfighter” character, which might be an interesting twist. Meanwhile, Mega Man is set to get a live action film.
