The Spark in Review: October 26, 2018

The Spark in Review is the week’s news at Allspark available as a set, carded with a bonus mystery figure. Actually there’s no mystery figure, but we do have the reveal of Transformers: BotBots, new Studio Series teases and reveals, and the advent of the Titan Metroplex in the Transformers Trading Card Game.

Toy News and Reveals:

This week saw the official reveal of Transformers: BotBots, the new tiny, adorable blind-packed lineup of characters coming to household items near you. The figures are transformable and represent a whole new slew of characters in themed series.

On the Generations side, TakaraTomy released stock images of the opening figures of War for Cybertron: Siege, including recently revealed Decepticons, who also feature prominently in the latest Figure King. (The piece also includes images of LG-EX Big Powered, in turn also featured in a new round of high-res official images.) Meanwhile, packaging images surfaced for Deluxe Sideswipe and three of the Micromaster team two-packs.

In more movie-universe-oriented toys, the big news this week was the reveal at the MCM London Comic Con of Revenge of the Fallen Jetfire, complete with a new Optimus Prime to combine with, and Dark of the Moon Megatron, complete with a fabric cloak, plus TF2007 Bonecrusher and possibly an RotF Long Haul on the way. Official images followed offering a better look at Bonecrusher and a peek at the Optimus-Jetfire combination. Meanwhile, an unidentified MPM-8 figure has appeared in preorder listings, including BigBadToyStore.

In-hand photos of Legendary Optimus Prime surfaced, as did a video review of the same figure and of Studio Series Bumblebee Dropkick.

Finally, in a bit of availability news for anyone still waiting, Amazon’s exclusive Power of the Primes Punch-Counterpunch is back in stock.

Outside Transformers, Hasbro have revealed the first Fortnite NERF Blaster, a rendition of the game’s Assault Rifle in more safety-conscious colors.

Comics, Games, and Media:

IDW have released their shipping list for October 31.

Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena appeared in a short interview with B&B Theaters, reflecting on the film and the nostalgic quality of both Transformers and the setting.

In gaming news, the Transformers Trading Card Game has revealed the Metroplex Deck, including the titan-sized Metroplex card himself, scaled (apparently) to battle a whole team of opponents. Space Ape have revealed event details and a new Prime Core for this weekend in Transformers: Earth Wars.

Transformers: Cyberverse has released Episode 8, “Terminal Velocity,” to YouTube.

Fandom and Events:

We don’t have any word on whose it is, but a custom truck to match all of those movie Prime rigs appeared in the form of a 1:1 scale G1 Optimus Prime. A fan spotted the very big toy “while driving around”; we’ll hope for more details in the future.
