The Spark in Review: October 12, 2018
The Spark in Review is the week’s news at Allspark in exclusive retool box set form. It’s been a light week of news but with some exciting reveals, including a listing for War for Cybertron: Siege Barricade and more images of Shockwave, a color gallery of Big Powered and its members, and a new IDW Star Trek series.
War for Cybertron: Siege information continues to trickle out, with a new round of stock photos of Leader Shockwave, including his drone, which he appears to ride hoverboard-style when it’s not in use as his armor, and his flying weapon mode, which continues an ongoing theme by very slightly resembling a submarine. New stock images also surfaced for Optimus Prime and Megatron, and listings appeared on Amazon for several Siege figures, including Deluxe Barricade. Finally, an unidentified piece of character art for a Generations character also surfaced, raising the possibility that this character is intended for Siege (though it may instead be an unused character for the previous trilogy.)
TakaraTomy also released color stock photos of Legends LG-EX Big Powered in their various configurations, including “base modes” for all three figures, revealing just how extensively these Titans Return figures have been retooled to recreate the Zone characters.
IDW have released their shipping list for October 17 and the five-page previews of Optimus Prime #24 and Unicron #5. We’ve released our own spoiler-free review of the latter. Meanwhile, IDW have announced a new Star Trek comic series in a massive crossover involving the first four leading starship captains of the franchise and, naturally, Q.
Space Ape Games have released event details for the weekend as well as information about game updates and balance changes in Transformers: Earth Wars.
Finally, in conjunction with NYCC reveals, Dreamworks released the full trailer for She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, revealing much more of the new animation and the plot of the new series.
This weekend features a family-friendly, Bumblebee-themed “Buzz Weekend” event for those in the Los Angeles area via Universal CityWalk. In another form of Bumblebee buzz, a launch event for the Bumblebee toyline in three cities in Brazil included fan-made dioramas and themed swag.
Finally, Puma have announced a new shoe lineup in Transformers themes, exclusive to Foot Locker shoe stores.
