Transformers 7 Officially Removed from Paramount’s 2019 Release Calendar
In news that may not come as a surprise to those who have been following the uncertain future of the live-action Transformers franchise, Paramount has now removed Transformers 7 from their 2019 film schedule.
The seventh Transformers film, previously scheduled for release on June 28th, 2019, has been replaced on Paramount’s schedule with Limited Partners, a comedy starring Tiffany Haddish.
While the tentative cancellation of the sequel to 2017’s The Last Knight was softly confirmed by Hasbro at Toy Fair 2018, this marks the first public action by Paramount confirming impending changes to the franchise.
The spinoff Bumblebee movie—itself still part of the Bayverse—is still slated for release December 21st, 2018. While this film is still said to be part of the established continuity, it will not only be the first in the franchise under a new director—Travis Knight of Laika fame—it is also said to feature a massive shift in tone from the previous live action films. If successful, it is believed the franchise will likely be re-tooled to be more in line with this film, but that may well hinge upon audience reception. Only time will tell when the next Transformers film will appear on Paramount’s schedule, and that movie may or may not resemble anything that has come before.
Are you hoping to see the live action films rebooted or are you hopeful the continuity can be simply be re-tooled and salvaged? Join the conversation in the Allspark Forums or live chat with other fans in our Discord server.
