EW.com Offers First Look at Netflix’s New She-Ra Series
Over the last few years, Netflix has established itself as a viable platform for strong, striking original content, with such hits as Marvel’s Defenders series and the recent Voltron remake. This year, a new She-Ra and the Princesses of Power debuts on the network courtesy of Dreamworks Animation Television, notably beating out He-Man to getting a modern-era remake.
Cartoonist and executive producer Noelle Stevenson, together with co-executive producer Chuck Austen, are helping the remake that will feature the voice acting talents of Sandra Oh, Lorraine Toussant, Marcus Scribner, Jordan Fisher, and Aimee Carrero, who will be voicing Princess Adora/She-Ra – see the full cast list at EW. Stevenson is excited to bring the series to life, as an opportunity to tell and share “stories of female power and love and friendship” at a time when they are sorely needed.
EW.com revealed an exclusive first look at She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, along with a lovely photo of the cast. There’s no shortage of potential with a series with such colorful characters and designs — as Stevenson points out, “there isn’t another show quite like it” — and so their efforts at translating it into a new, original series should be worth the wait.
