The Spark in Review: February 2, 2018

It’s been a slow week for Power of the Primes news, but we’ve had a big reveal from Star Wars Powered By Transformers, a new Dungeons and Dragons comic in the pipeline, and some Sharkticons! Oh, and Studio Series is still a thing that’s happening, that’s exciting!
Toy News and Reveals:
There haven’t been any new reveals or releases for Power of the Primes this week, but fans who miss the packaging bios of past Transformers lines can take heart, as Hasbro has released bios for the current Power of the Primes lineup on their website. We also got to see an early concept of Rodimus Prime, with a somewhat different transformation scheme, by Emiliano Santalucia. And we heard a peep from the upcoming Studio Series lineup, which will offer new-mold figures of characters across the Transformers Movie franchise, in the form of a single image of a pre-production Grimlock.
Outside the main lines, a couple of new packaging images surfaced for Transformers Authentics, hinting at a third, larger size class alongside the 4.5″ and 7″ figures (perhaps like a larger, simpler Voyager class alongside the existing larger, simpler versions of Legends and Deluxe.) Images were also released of the new Star Wars Powered by Transformers Millennium Falcon’s robot constituents (Han and Chewbacca, much as in the very differently designed 2006 version.) Finally, Pete’s Robot Convention revealed the last of its Custom Class figures, surely surprising someone with a Pretender shell for Swerve.
