IDW’s Away Mission to Official Star Trek Convention to Discuss I.D.I.C., Discovery

IDW Publishing has announced five panels for the official Star Trek Las Vegas Convention beginning today, August 2, with topics including the Boldly Go ongoing’s upcoming 6-issue I.D.I.C. event miniseries and the Discovery tie-in. Both were previously teased at SDCC 2017 for October release with more information coming at Star Trek Las Vegas.

I.D.I.C. (“Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations” in reference to the Vulcan philosophy) is a six-issue event starting October in the Boldly Go series, an ongoing title set in the new movie timeline. The event features a collision of realities “with the fate of all realities at stake”, and Mike Johnson, writer for Boldly Go, is slated to appear at today and tomorrow’s panels. Transformers fans might recognize Mike Johnson’s name from his work in Transformers: Prime.

Star Trek: Discovery launches next month on CBS All Access, and IDW’s comic tie-in begins the following month with a creative team including Mike Johnson and Kirsten Beyer as co-writers and Tony Shasteen as artist. Beyer is also a member of the CBS series writing staff; billed as an ongoing, the tie-in book is said to “really matter” in reference to the CBS series and “expand the story” of the show.

Along with Mike Johnson at the Star Trek Las Vegas panels are Sarah Gaydos, Group Editor at IDW and editor for the Star Trek series specifically, and J.K. Woodward, artist in several past IDW Star Trek and other comics.

The full press release follows. Discuss the news here on the Allspark Forums and be sure to stop here first to snag an account if it’s your first time.
