Transformers, G.I. Joe Voice Director Wally Burr Dead at 91
We at the AllSpark are sad to hear today of the passing of Wally Burr, a voice actor and voice director best known to the fandom for directing the huge cast of voice talent comprising the original Sunbow Transformers and G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero animated series. The news came via the Facebook page of voice actor Dan Gilvezan. Burr was 91.
Gilvezan provided no additional details regarding the circumstances of Burr’s passing. For his work on The Transformers, Burr directed voice-over legends like Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Chris Latta, Alan Oppenheimer, Don Messick, Rob Paulsen, and many others, including the cast of the beloved The Transformers: The Movie. Burr was known in the industry for his long and often demanding recording sessions.
Burr also provided the voice of Kremzeek as well as several incidental characters, and would occasionally voice a recurring character when the usual voice actor wasn’t available.
