That’s the product description on their page featuring this amazing box set, but this set holds a very special place for me in my heart.
You see, when I was a kid I didn’t really get outside the sphere of Transformers much. From the time I was very young, my first toys as a 4 to 5 year old child were the original Kenner Star Wars figures. After that, came GI Joe and Transformers around the ages of 9 and 10 years old… that was pretty set in stone with me up until I was in high school around 15.
At that time, I’d made a new friend who had introduced me to comics (and we’re still best friends today) after more than 20 years later. I remember very vividly getting dropped off at the mall and entering a book store that sold comics on their spinner racks. I’d read many of his but all I had were Transformers comics from Marvel at home. He said, “You should get some and start collecting.”
I grabbed a few issues of things I thought looked neat. Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, Thor, The Avengers and Amazing Spider-Man when they were all in their hey day in the early 90s.
The first Spider-Man books I grabbed was drawn by Erik Larsen and was parts 1 and 2 of “Return of the Sinister Six” saga. It was the first in all those issues I’ve read and I developed a bond with them that continued long into my adult hood.
It defined my definition of being a geek and nerd fan and the entire flagship was lead by Spider-Man, Erik Larsen, Marvel Comics, movies, toys, animation and everything in between.
I realize that the nostalgia bomb may not have quite the same effect on everyone who gets wind of this set – but I HAD to share it as well as my personal attachment to it and you can better believe my Pre-Order is down.
If you’d like to do the same, either click the images or this link and get yours locked in. If/When they lower the price on site you’re going to be guaranteed to get the lowest price set and it’s totally worth it.
