DC Comics reinvents the Hanna-Barbera universe!
Hope you’re ready for a blast of nostalgia! DC Comics has announced a lineup of new comics based on some rather familiar faces from your Saturday morning TV screen.
DC will be launching four titles based on classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon series this May: The Flintstones, Future Quest, Wacky Raceland, and Scooby Apocalypse.
“I can’t think of anyone that doesn’t look back at these characters with anything but fond memories,” said Dan DiDio, DC Entertainment Co-Publisher. “With this initial lineup of titles and talent, we’re excited for fans to experience the reimagining of these Saturday morning classics with a more modern and contemporary look and feel.”
Each series, of course, comes with a bit of a twist, the most “out there” being Scooby Apocalypse, which sees the gang facing threats they never imagined in a world overrun by hideous mutants. Best of all, the gang are getting a makeover from fan-favorite artist Jim Lee!
Future Quest will see Jonny Quest and Hadji teaming up with other Hann-Barbera heroes, including Space Ghost and Birdman. Wacky Raceland is a Mad Max inspired take on the classic Wacky Races cartoon, while The Flintstones will be more in line with the old cartoon series, though with a dynamic new art style.
